Got my recall notice today.

All it said was pretty much what we've discussed here already, and that the parts are not yet available. Once they are, I'll get a second written notice to make an appointment at my dealer to get the brake line replaced.

cool. I was wondering about letters myself. Haven't gotten one yet. I am taking the bike in Tuesday for 6000 mile service.

Snow will come tonight
Looks like forecast is for a decent storm and that's it until early April. Oh well, I guess we have the winter bike shows to look forward to shortly.
I imagine you got your notice too. Looks like a few months away as the dealership (BMW Motorrad Toronto) says its very early in a global recall and will likely be a while before they have enough replacement parts ready.

I got one today for the totaled bike. I assume it covers the new-to-me replacement I just bought too. Not much riding the next couple of months anyway.

Haven't stopped for more than a couple seconds to think about why recall notice states it's only a potential problem for full lock left turns. Surely it's potentially a right turn risk as well with brake hose there too? Is it just related to locking bike when parked or in motion?

Turning the bars full left puts tension on the hose and it rubs against something. Full lock right relaxes the hose so there's no issue.

At the big manufacturers show here in Toronto I spoke to BMW rep and he thinks recall will be covered within the next 12 months. He saw the look of disappointment on my face and said there is little chance of a problem anything going wrong before the fix. Maybe it's just me but the notion of an even remote chance of brake problems does not fill me with great joy. I have a couple of long rides in mind for this year and am looking at another machine. I may have to buy if I can't beg, steal or borrow! While there were some great bikes at the show I have to say the Honda NC750X (yes 750cc in Canada) with DCT was really cool and Kawasaki Versys 650LT was really good at the price.

Sorry to hear it. I had been trying to buy a 2013-15 left over at several dealerships for the last two months. No deals made because of recall and there is still no sale order. None of the dealers inTexas or Louisiana still have the recall parts and best guess was by end of month. I ended up getting a new 2016 because of this recall but I think it will work out for best..

I have to say it may well be worth getting the latest model. I got a '15 C-GT in May of 2015 and just have the brake line recall to deal with. Oh, and my air temp reading is not right so I'm working with my dealer on that. A lower cost for a new bike from last year is tempting but I have to think a brand new model with the upgrades is well worth choosing.

I checked the front left brake line on my GT and haven't seen any sign of chafing or any kind of damage. I used to lock the handlebars every time I parked the bike outside just to keep my left cubby locked so I've had the bars hard left quite a bit. I suspect that the problem is with a limited number of bikes. My dealer doesn't expect to get parts until March so I plan to keep riding the scooter as if there is no problem. I intend to check the brake line every month or so. It doesn't seem like it would have a sudden failure without showing some external wear.

If I time this right, the part should be available right around the time the scooter is due for its 24,000 mile service...

I noticed while I was commuting in to work today that my front brake fluid seems a lot lower than my rear.

Anybody know exactly what I should be looking for? I'm paranoid now.

It is just about March now and still no notice, maybe I should not have payed the bike off, seems BMW has forgotten me.

Just got my notice the brake line is now in and to call the dealer to set up my appointment to have the work done. The letter also says it will take about 2 hours. I am in no rush and will have it done late spring or early summer.
