Ignition socket

I was getting ready to start my bike today and when I put the key in and turned the ignition on the whole key socket popped out and fell on the ground. I put it back in and the bike started. Anyone else have this happen to them? Btw 2016 c650 sport

Yes, this happened to me 18 months ago. One dealership tried twice to fix the problem (for free) but each time it failed. The next dealer fixed the problem but it cost me £120 for the pleasure. Which I thought was a little over the top. Not had it pop out since. I ride a 650GT which I have owned from new. Coming up for 5 years old.

Sounds like an hour’s labor.

Well it did it again while riding when I hit a bump and can't find the ignition barrel and key. When I turn it off it will start again but lights stay on and will drain battery. I put a switch between battery positive. Everything comes on but won't crank.

So I bought a new ignition barrel with new keys. Tried to install it but it won't stay in. However , it does allow me to start it and turn off. I just put the socket and key in my bike bag after starting. Anyone know how to install it?
