Phone Mount

With the covered bars on my 650GT I am wondering what people have found to be a good mount for your phone and placement?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I swear by the afore-mentioned RAM ball base on the brake reservoir + RAM double-socket short arm to connect base and phone cradle + RAM Spring-Loaded Quick Grip phone cradle. This is a rock-solid system -- also easy to remove from the bike if you're concerned about somebody stealing it.

Key for me is the spring-loaded cradle, way more secure than RAM's X-Grip. You can remove or load your phone with one hand. I always use two hands, one to handle the phone and the other to push down on the base/brake reservoir cover as a counterforce while I do -- that lessens the upward pull of the phone cradle when you open it. I doubt I am strong enough to pull the brake reservoir cover off the bike, but I don't want to find out.

I use a Quad-Lock system. I mounted their Knuckle Adaptor to the top of the rear brake reservoir using a longer screw and a couple of rubber washers. I stole this idea from a picture I saw online of someone’s C650. It works great for me!

The RAM® Quick-Grip™ Phone Holder is indeed the best cradle! I also was unhappy with the X-Grip. The Quick-Grip is totally secure, easy to use, and won't accidentally press the side buttons on the phone.

I use the RAM ball base on the brake reservoir + RAM double-socket short arm, but then I go to a RAM/QuadLock 1" Ball adaptor, including the anti-Vibration Kit on my 2013 C600 Sport.

I use the QuadLock 1" Ball adapter, to mount with the RAM offset brake reservoir bracket. I also use the Quadlock Vibration dampener on my 2013 C600 Sport. Will admit, I did not think to go the route that you have. U sed to have the RAM X-Grip, but never had any confidence in it on long trips, even with the tether strap. Much happier with the Quadlock setup I have now.

My C650GT came with an OEM satnav mount. fits on top of the centre panel on the handlebars, with a reinforcing bracket underneath the panel. If anyone’s interested, I’ll try & post a photo.

Will that satnav mount hold a phone? I know I have heard of that bit but never have seen what it looks like.

This was to be my plan if the Knuckle Adapter didn’t work. I’d guess that your setup is probably a little more stable than mine. So far so good, but if I have any problems with my method, I’ll be switching it over to the ball mount.

Here’s a video I found of the QuadLock ball mount setup.

Good thread, I ordered a center ball hydraulic reservoir, short arm, and Quick Grip XL phone mount with ball for my C650 Sport after reading through and having a look at my bike. Nice system just way too many choices!
