Does BMW top box carrier fit all years?

Thinking about swapping my 2013 650GT for a much later model. Trouble is, I like the Shad top box on mine but none of the ones for sale in the UK seem to have a top box or rack. One option might be to keep the rack when I sell my bike, but is the rack (& box) on the 2013 compatible with...

    New model coming?

The seller has updated the description to clarify that it's not the next model due on 1 Mar, just the next MOT (statutory test) that's due then. Hopes dashed.

    New model coming?

Edit: the seller has update his description, and is no longer suggesting that there's a new model due. Just been scanning through bike trader (a UK bike sales site), as I'm thinking about replacing my 2013 with a newer one. One of the posts said the C650 sport was discontinued (which it is)...

fender extender on a 3d printer

Sounds like an interesting challenge. Is there an OEM one that could be copied? What do you reckon it would have to be made from? ABS (which I can't do), thermoplastic polyurethane (which I can do) (Another) Mike the bike Coventry UK

    2013 drive belt replacement C650gt

I'm running a Mitsuboshi from Carpimoto on my 2013 C650GT. runs just fine. I think it's made in the same factory as the OEM one, certainly the one I bought had exactly the same markings, in the same fonts, etc as the OEM one I took off - it just lacked the BMW badge.

    Seat Hydraulic Closure Cylinder

In UK there are companies that specialise in gas struts - you order what you want by length, force, end fittings etc. I assume that there will be similar suppliers in your market. It's worth a google rather than having to sell a kidney for the OE part. For reference, in the UK I use these...

    BMW C650GT

You can find part numbers on this web site: https://www.bike-parts-bmw.co.uk/bmw-motorcycle The OE drive belt is 24 82 7 729 767, and it will cost you (at least) an arm and a leg. Assuming that they ship to Aus, it's worth having a look at carpimoto.it They sell the Mitsuboshi branded...

    C600 Sport/C650 GT Belt Replacement

In the UK, the tool wasn't that expensive - around £35 if I recall correctly. I doubt that there's a generic substitute.

How important is the oil pickup pipe?

I was reading through the BMW workshop manual and happened across the initial service instructions. I think the idea is that any bits of swarf in a new engine will be collected by the filter before getting into the oil pump. Once the engine has had its first oil and filter change, it’s assumed...

    Parking brake

There's a special way to adjust the parking brake. First you adjust the cable, with the side stand retracted so that distance "A" is 56mm, then you slacken the locknut (near the top of the big arrow in this photo) and adjust the centre screw until the brake is working correctly. Finally...

    Which is Ignition coil #2?

I've been getting quite a bad misfire, and Motoscan is reporting trouble code 2763 - Ignition coil 2. I'm assuming that cylinder 2 is the right hand one, viewed from the rider's seat - is this correct?. I don't plan on replacing both coils as they're a tad expensive (just over £100 UK each)...

How important is the oil pickup pipe?

No - I didn't. I still have the two strainer tubes at the moment. The oil intake pipe (part 11 42 8 531 124) is only about £7, so I'll probably buy one next time I do an oil change. Take a look at...

Engine stalling when slowing - test idle control device?

Thanks - worth having a look at while I've got it in bits

Engine stalling when slowing - test idle control device?

I've thought about the idle control device, but my current line of investigation has moved to the ignition coils. Last time I took the bike out it started misfiring quite badly, and Motoscan says there is a problem with Ignition Coil 2. I've taken the coils out and they look OK, as do their...

Engine stalling when slowing - test idle control device?

Yes, I'd read about that. I've had them out, wiped them clean, and there was no sign of cracking. I'd rather hoped that would be the problem, but it seems that something else is to blame.

How important is the oil pickup pipe?

There is another oil strainer which is supposed to be removed by the dealer at the first service and replaced by an oil pickup pipe. It's about 30 cm further forward from the one you mention, and you have to remove quite a bit of plastic to get to it.

Engine stalling when slowing - test idle control device?

Recently, my 2013 C650GT has started to stall when slowing down to a halt after a fast-ish run. My first thoughts were the idle actuator hoses, as replacing them seems to have fixed a similar problem for others, but I've had them out, cleaned and checked them - they looked as good as new. I'm...

How important is the oil pickup pipe?

Just in the middle of doing an oil change on my 2013 C650GT with around 17000 miles on it. I notice that the front strainer, which should have been changed for an oil pickup pipe at the first service, is still in place (i.e. that bit of the first service was obviously never done). How important...

    Reset or delete the service

I have the Motoscan android app (the pro version), one of Motoscan's recommended OBDII dongles (the cheap ones only read and won't write to the bike, so can't be used to reset the service indicator), and a BMW to OBD adapter cable from somewhere in China. It's worked well for me, resetting the...
