    Hesitation at slow steady speed

I had a 2013 650GT. I had BMW install (at my cost) a Dr. Pulley clutch and I believe Dr. Pulley 28 gram throw weights. You need those weights to move out via centrifugal force (speed) to fully engage the clutch to reduce that very annoying hesitation. Later models like the '16 and higher...

Stalling When Decelerating or Coming to a Stop

I had a '13 and I remember that in the US, there was a recall for this situation back in 2014/15 time frame. There were two situations causing a stall. One was a bad timing chain tensioner and the other was the safety engine cut off switch that is part of the center stand. Two different...

2014 650 GT "chain rattling noise

That's definitely the recalled chain tensioner on the Gen 1 bikes (2012 thru 15). Don't know if BMW will still repair it for free as they were doing in 2014/15. I remember that the recall said to not ride until the repair was made.

    Talk me out of a C650GT ?

Hello Tom, I'm on my second C650GT, so I can't talk you out of it. First was a '13 (Rev 0) so came with many flaws that are now fixed. This was the first year of production for this model scooter. My current bike is a '18 (Rev. 1). Much better design. If you are thinking of buying a...

Rear Tire Pressure - 2018 Model

Hello Group, I recently traded in my '13 650GT for the '18 model - which is vastly improved by the way but a subject for a different thread. One difference in the specs is that the '18 manual states that the rear tire is to be set for 42 PSI. The '13 rear tire was set for 36 PSI, unless there...

New Admore Smart Light Bar installed

Does anyone know if the wire colors that were mentioned in this thread and originally posted around 2014 are still the same for the '18 models? I'm about to order the Admore lighting kit for GIVI top box but am hesitant about identifying the correct wires to tap into for brakes, signals etc...

    2nd Generations Scooter Quesitons

I had the gen 1 C650 GT from early '14 to this past summer and traded it in for the Gen 2. Here is a review I wrote on another message board after having it only a short time. Now with 2000 miles of riding, I wouldn't change the review. Much different and better bike now. The review...

    Roll Call March 2016

Haven't visited for awhile, but a member since about March 2014. Purchased my '13 Black 650GT in Jan 14. Now has about 11k miles on it, sharing mileage duty with my '09 Honda Shadow Aero.

Non BMW scooter related: Motorcyle for 2 up questions here

I compared the 650GT to the Honda Shadow cruiser-type bike that I also ride, in my 5/22/15 post on the Google+ site. My other half enjoys riding the Beemer more only because she sits a little taller on the pinion seat and has better viz over my helmet. Other than that she rates them equal in...

    My new BMW Moped!

I've ridden mine in group settings (including as ride leader) many times, with "real" motorcycles. After they've observed my "moped" jump onto a highway, maneuver through twistees, and climb mountain auto roads, they realize it's an automatic motorcycle. Performance-wise, it is far superior...

first 600 mile service questions. Please help.

2014 model might not need the timing chain recall. You can go to the NHTSA.GOV website and check your bike by VIN to see if it's applicable to you. There is also a BMW service bulletin out there currently that is changing out the multi-function switches (at no charge) so that's a reason to...

    Gas Octane You Use

Always 93. I was surprised when the dealer told me to fill it with 93. My Honda had been happy with 87. Then he said, "think about it - it's 3 gallons per fill-up" So that's an extra 75 cents over 91 octane per fill??? It's all about preventing knock/ping.

    Personalized Plates Proclaiming Pride, Perhaps?

The question I most often get is "is it a bike or a scooter?" So my plate would reflect the answer I always give.

About to purchase a USED 650GT, I have a few questions, help please.

Not normal (except for ABS light, which stops blinking at 10 mph). Oil light should just come on, then go out during the diagnostics self check prior to engine start. I'd warm the bike for a few minutes then turn it off a few, and check the stick just to make sure that you can see oil most of...

    Tire Replacement

If you take your bike all the way to Portsmouth for service, that was my 650GT in their shop for a couple of months waiting for Metzelers. No big deal as there was 5 feet of snow on the ground all winter. Ended up with Michelin Power Pure SC for about $250 for the set. If you're willing to...

About to purchase a USED 650GT, I have a few questions, help please.

Hi Akkis. Your question comes up pretty often here. Jaime can answer the lane splitting in NY question. There's a link below to a recent thread which covers a lot of your questions. I test drove both scooters and thought the GT had better leg room than the Sport. I'm 5-11 and find the...
