    C650GT Rear Wheel Bearing Life

Hi Norman, As far as I know the Mk1 and Mk2 bearings are the same but the crush drive/rear sprocket is different, the Mk2 does not have the rubbers. The last time my rear wheel bearings failed, the symptom was vibration from the seat and footboards at 50mph. The notchy bearing had caused the...

    Front Forks removal

The right (battery) side fork leg removal requires the air intake to be moved up. Loosen the rear bolt and unclip the front rubber mount. I found a T45 x 200mm bit was needed to remove the lower pinch bolts due to the restricted space. See photos. The pinch bolts are fitted with Blue Loctite...

How important is the oil pickup pipe?

What do you mean by "front strainer" The only oil strainer is in the bottom of the oil tank and it is cleaned, not removed. See attached.

My new to me 2013 C650GT is limited to 97mph indicated speed. Previously modified?

My 2017 GT got to 107mph on the GPS, 2 up, on a deserted Spanish motorway. Interestingly the speed did not increase on the slightly down hill section after the test. I do wonder if they are limited in some way.

    c650 sport

Check the wheel bearings as a leaking oil seal is the first sign they are on the way out. The final drive rubbers were removed from 2016 on the MK2.

Diagnostic advice please for 2016 C650 GT - MotoScan App & OBD2 alternative

I recently removed my battery for 2 weeks when upgrading the forks, without issues with the windscreen. All I did was set the screen to the lowest positions before working on the bike.

    Generation identification

MK2 has double barrel (shotgun) silencer. But to be safe look for the oil feed to the cam chain tensioner.

    DIY TPMS Change

Leave the bike stationary for half an hour before starting the learn process. It is essential that only the sensor you wish to learn is active and its ID number is only visible in the MotoScan app after the learn process. The ID is not printed on the sensor case or packaging. Establish a...

    C650GT Rear suspension Upgrade

A generally accepted recommended setting for motorcycle rear suspension is 15% static sag (no rider) and 25% (passenger and/or rider seated) dynamic sag. BMW advise the maximum permitted payload is 405 pounds (184 kg) but with this load in place the bike is dangerous as the centre stand...

    C650GT Rear Wheel Bearing Life

The rear wheel bearings on my bike last around 12,000 miles, which I presumed was due to it regularly carrying two heavy people plus luggage. Recent facebook group posts have shown this not to be an isolated event, does anyone have any knowledge of the typical wheel bearing life or experienced...
