How does an idiot take off the mirror to access the light for replacement?

Sorry but from experience you need to either buy a new mirror assembly for +600.00 USD, or find a used one, the light modual is not replaceable.

Also taking it the assembly off is not easy especially on the Left side.

Is it the whole mirror assembly? Most mirrors clip in to the housing, I can't seem to unclip mine to access the actual light.
Any information, or assistance is greatly appreciated.

It is the whole mirror assembly and the mirror is on a ball/swivel joint that is very tight and you may break the mirror trying to remove it.
Like I said earlier the turn signal modual is not available separately from the assembly. To remove the mirror assembly you need to remove the side fairing cover and have a very short ratcheting wrench with a torx bit. The Rt side is easier to access than the L.
