Hi all,
I’m moving from the SF Bay Area to Texas at the end of January and have decided not to bring my scoot with me :(
It’s a 2014, C650GT, black. I have added the luggage rack and a big Shad topcase and have a ram phone mount, but those are the only additions to stock.
Regularly maintained at the dealer I purchased it from. Minor scuffs here and there, two drops from standing (was not in motion)
17,297 miles
$5000 or best reasonable offer
(and Lordy allow me to vent about the flakes and scammers on Craigslist 😒)
If anyone has any other suggestions on where I might list it, that info would be appreciated almost as much as an offer to buy ;)
I can email photos if you’re interested
Cheers,
—jo

I'd had great luck with Facebook. Sold three Silver Wings, a Burgman 650 (2013) and a BMW C650 GT (2016 with 2k miles for $6,000), all sold in less than a week. I like FB because you can (usually) see an actual face for the seller, plus how long they've been a member.

I tried CycleTrader with the 2013 Burgman and got good quality responses.

I agree re: craigslist; the scammers have overrun it.

I have a buying question ... would love some opinions.

Current bike: 2017 C650 GT in Black Storm Metallic. Just hit 4k miles. Flawless inside and out. Bought it for $7,000. Warranty is valid until December 2020 (1 year ... then a three-year warranty extension is around $1400). I love the bike. I can tell it's a good one.

Bike I'm considering buying: 2019 C650 GT in Black Storm Metallic. 30 miles (brand new). I can get it for $9,000 from a private seller who doesn't want it anymore. Warranty is valid until July 2022 (2.5 years).

I think I can sell the 2017 pretty quickly for $6,000. So I'd be spending $3000 more to get a new 2019. I love the idea of buying brand new for a couple thousand less than MSRP.

On the other hand, I've got a great bike to ride now. If I want new, the 2020's have new styling that sets them apart from 2019 and previous, so maybe it's best to ride the 2017 for awhile and upgrade to a '20 when I'm ready.

(These are good problems to have, I know. ;o)

Thoughts? What would you do?

Stay with the one you have. It still has extremely low miles and you won't get any more life out of the 2019 one. I stopped buying new (motorcycles or cars) 20 years ago and never looked back. Due to the steep depreciation in the early years. Although the 2019 is a good deal for sure, you would still be spending $3,000 (plus sales tax? Here in CA that would add another $900!) without, in the long run, hardly any benefit. That's my 2 cents!
P.s. just bought a near-mint 1990 Ford Bronco II for $2,300 that I expect will serve me for the next decade and then be worth more than I paid, doing nothing more than normal maintenance. And I bought my 2016 C650 in March 2018 with 1,960 miles for $6,500. Expect to keep that also until 2030! Got both the BMW and the Bronco off Craigslist, clean good transactions both.

So, question, did you have the CVT belt replace yet? If it is still available, my brother living in San Diego might be looking for one just like yours. (Mine is the same model year, grey, has over 21000 miles, and I changed the CVT belt). I thank you ahead.

Excellent advice, thank you. I ended up keeping it. And I started out 2020 right this morning by putting in new brake fluid. Then I ordered coolant and oil and I'm eager to tackle those jobs. The DVD of the service manual I got for $14 from a seller in the U.K. is a goldmine.
