A C650GT Confession

OK, so I have to confess I feel a little guilty. Earlier today I was stopped at a light and a bandana wearing heavy cruiser guy pulled up in the lane beside me. I waved, nodded, and received nothing back other than a turn of his head and some revving of his Street Bob. Loud revving.

Soooo, I couldn't help myself. Left him in the dust when the light turned green. Very childish, I know.

But probably not as childish as when I pulled into his lane to get onto the ramp leading to I-71 and slowed so he could catch up allowing us both to get on the interstate together.

More revving of his engine while waiting for the arrow. And this time he did a pretty good job; it took a good 5 seconds before he realized he was never going to keep up.

Pretty doggone immature. I don't know what I was thinking and trying to prove. There are always faster bikes and better riders. I feel guilty that I let the guy get to me.

And, yeah, it felt pretty damn good.

I do it all the time. LOL. What is even better though is when I do it on my Vespa GTS300. That really gets under their skin.

I too have to confess that it was hard for me to let go of my 1300 Star Tourer, but now owning the 650gt I remind myself that I was looking for more amenities, comfort and technology and this bike has all that, plus reaching 90 mph effortlessly....sweeeeet!

I originally bought a scooter (my leftover 2009 Yamaha TMAX) 'cause I figure I'm getting older and need to slow down. Yeah... that isn't exactly working out the way I planned it...

LOL. Being mature and all grown up isn't what it's cracked up to be. Got to let loose once in a while. Wonder what he wrote on his blog or told his friends? If you cross paths again he might wave. Just might not use all his fingers...

My reasoning revolved around comfort (ok, that is an old guy thing) and flexibility. Turned out I got more than I expected with the speed and great highway touring capability of the bike.

I had a very similar experience on my TMAX driving into Boston one day. Guy in a Harley split thru the cars stopped at the traffic and pulled up next to me (I had just hit the red so was first in line.) Didn't even acknowledge my presence even though he pulled right next to me, but a half a length ahead of course. So I made sure to take a sip of my iced coffee just as the light turned green, then flew past him one handed, tipping my iced coffee to him and smiling as I did. :D

Classic...

My Go To is to pull up to a Harley in the summer when it's 100 degrees out, open the front compartment, pull out an iced bottle of water and drink it in front of him, as he MELTS from radiated engine heat. Sweet.

Once on my Silverwing I pulled in for a gas stop along a highway in New Hampshire. A minute later a guy on a Harley pulled in and stopped next to me at the pumps. He said " Hey what is that? I have been trying to catch you for ten miles!!"

I some times go to dinner at a restaurant where lots of bikers go to, some are jack-@#$$$$$ others are cool and talk to you about bikes its all about a state of mind. is it childish, maybe but I would have done the same thing ;-)
