Battery Replacement without Breaking Windscreen

Has anybody come up with a good way to disconnect the battery without "breaking" the windscreen adjustment mechanism on the C650 GT?

Typically when the battery is disconnected (or is drained) the windscreen up/down functionality stops working until the dealer resets the low- and high-limit settings. I've seen (but not used) devices for a car that use a 9V battery plugged into the cigarette lighter. The challenge on the C650 would be finding something that doesn't wire directly to the battery as it would be disconnected at the same time the battery is.

On thought is wiring a second 12V battery to alligator clips and connecting it to directly to the C650s positive and negative cables before disconnecting the main battery. Other ideas are appreciated!

I didn't replace my battery but I did disconnect it when I was installing the power for my GPS and didn't have any problems with the windscreen afterward.

I disconnected the battery at least 4x - driving lights, USB power plug/GPS power, underseat power plug and Admore light bar. No problems or errors with windscreen. However, I have seen a Mercedes at our shop that had a battery replaced and all the windows and more had to be reprogrammed after a battery was replaced - German engineering...

Cool, thank you! Maybe I've been unlucky or maybe things go wonky if the battery actually loses charge during hard starting. Fingers crossed.

Just to be safe, make sure the screen is either all the way down or up when the battery is disconnected. I don't know how the computer is programmed, but maybe it could have a problem if the screen is at an in-between position and won't move because it doesn't know where it is.

That would be my thought. I know I always try and put screen all the way down when stopping or parking. I believe the 2016 models always lower screen to down when shut off?
