Bike stays in gear

3 times in the last 2 days my 2013 C650GT stayed in gear when I came to a stop and the engine stalled when holding the brake. The last time it stayed in gear and had to start and go at the same time. This maybe coincidence but in each of these times Im was using the right hand (front wheel) brake, I normally prefer to use the left but for no specific reason. Any ideas why and what to do about it?

Sounds like the clutch is 'sticking' - it's supposed to disengage under certain conditions; not sure but if it's a centrifugal force based mechanisms, something is preventing it from working properly, perhaps a broken spring, friction material that's come loose, something along those lines. It will have to be opened up I expect.

Thanks for trying to help, I thought I would get more responses on this, I guess it does not happen often or i placed it in the wrong category.

You are going to have to take it apart, the basic "job" is to replace the drive belt, the perfect time to replace the rollers with Dr Pulley slides and weights. How many miles on the scoot? While it's apart use emory cloth and clean the clutch surfaces and drum surfaces, check for clutch shoes that don't retract and look for trash getting in the way, check for broken springs
not pulling the shoe back, look for uneven wear on the shoes, heavily glazed areas on the shoes, clean everything, blow with compressed air to remove all the dust.
There are good write-ups in this forum telling you what tools are needed for the job, where to buy the drive belt (Carpimoto, the $50 to $60 belts are junk and WILL NOT last more than 1500 miles). Download a maintenance manual, it's not a hard job, take your time, pay attention to detail and you should find what's causing the clutch to stick.
