BMW 1200 RT or Triumph Trophy?

I'd go with an RT. Decades of technology and many more dealers across the country when you travel. Plus the BMWMOA and all its members.

No doubt you have done a lot of internet research and maybe even test ridden one or both and know with these high end sport tourers it will eventually boil down to personal preference over what might seem like minor differences. Something not so minor to me is that I personally prefer the triple over the boxer. That said, I would be happy with either.

Just to throw a monkey wrench into the discussion, have you looked at the Yamaha FJR1300? Not sayin' it's better then either of the above but it might be worth a look also.

Thanks for the third alternative but I'm down to the said two choices

Well, I know Phil is an RT guy who knows a lot more about those machines than I do. I have never sat on a Trophy, but like I said before, I love the triple (I own a Triumph Tiger Explorer). But I came this close to buying an RT...(admittedly trying to figure out how to hide it in the garage)

Phil also makes a good point about the number of BMW dealers, but if an unlikely breakdown were to occur, my guess is a lot of shops could get you going regardless of the brand so long as the cause is generic.

I keep both my Anonymous Book and HOG listings on my bike. I have never had to call either but if I ever got into a jam and had to make a call I bet either would help regardless of the bike brand I was riding.

Just for grins
Look at what PD's ride
Here in California CHP loves their RT's, they recently tried brand HD, getting a thumbs down from most officers
Local PD's are split between Honda, BMW and Kawasaki, these guys and gals spend 8-12 hours per day on their bikes, I've never herd a negative from BMW riders
Can't say that about other brands
I've had 1200GS's 1600gt and now a 15 RT it by far is the best combination of all bikes that I have ridden

So those of you that have these bigger bikes, what do you use your scooter for ?

By the way I think I'd go for an RT. But I really have no legs to stand on in this argument.

Scooter was bought for the wife, she loves it!!
I get to ride it on a few occasions. When it needs gas or servicing, or anytime she's at work and has taken her car[emoji106]
Very familiar with Costa Mesa high school, as boss lady spent a summer there as vice principal, she now resides at CDM as a counselor, finishing her 20th year in new port
