Hello all I just heard that BMW will not be importing there big scooter to the USA ?
I just saw a 2020 with 150 miles for sale for $10500.00 but with the bikes not going to be here anymore
I am not so sure this is a good investment

It wouldn't surprise me, they aren't big sellers. But just because they are stopping importing it doesn't make it a good or bad investment, at least in my book. If you really look at what else is out there in terms of large scoots, there isnt that much choice. I don't think the c400 is working out all that well, seems to have more than its fair share of problems. Guess that comes with a fully Chinese sourced bike. If I had to go with something else, I'd probably look at one of the Vespas, they seem to have a strong following though you are limited to about a 330 cc engine. The bv350 has 16" wheel in the front and is supposed to be their touring model.

10500 isnt a bad price. Is that bike considered new or used? I paid 10700 for a 2019 last year that was new and dealers were asking 12k for 2020's new without much negotiation allowed. My only complaints about the bike are the seat height and weight. But its a rip once it starts moving and is great on the highway. And referencing that Vespa with the 16" wheel, the seat height is also over 31 inches.

Like Evil Twin said 10500 is a good price for 2020. I paid 10625 for my 2019 last year. I don't think you could wrong. Just my 2Cents. hell, let the
hammer down buy it and get to riding.

I wouldn't base any decision of this magnitude on "I just heard". A quick Web search yields no real information. The rumor appears and is discussed, with the same total lack of facts, at https://advrider.com/f/threads/bmw-c650-gt-in-2021.1471858/

My first maxi-scooter was a 2003 Honda Silver Wing I bought on Christmas Eve in 2017. The Wing had been discontinued in the U.S. four years earlier. That meant I bought a 14-year old machine with no future (guaranteed, not rumored).

Granted, I paid $1,700 and not $10,500, so it was easier to roll the dice. But I soon found it was easy to get parts, maintenance info and plug into forums with passionate, informed owners. I've since "cycled" through three more Silver Wings, two BMW C 650 GT's and two Burgman 650's (I enjoyed finding a good deal, updating the maintenance, enjoying for a while and selling for a modest profit or break even price).

I'd buy another BMW C 650 GT without hesitation. Same logic applies -- parts, maintenance info and forums will be around for a decade, at least. Meanwhile, you enjoy maxi-scooter benefits like reliability, easy upkeep, storage, weather protection, faster reaction time with no shifting decisions, etc.

They haven't made the sport since 2016
But it was offered for sale in the US through 2018 (2019 model year), I thought. I only have a 2016 model, so I can't refute your assertion, but when I search for parts/accessories/reviews on the Google, I usually see the Sport referred to as "2012-2015 C600, 2016-2019 C650."

I have a 2016 sport and just love it...
As far as handling a performance goes it’s superb
And leaves most conventional bikes wondering how it blows them away ..
And capacity to store big items and helmets under the the seats a bonus ...

Yup............2020 is the last year. I had my 2013 totaled and found this new 2020 C650GT 719 Option at San Jose BMW California last November. Had "Ship Bikes" deliver it to me in Kentucky December 30th 2020. I Bought it sight unseen. Only 2 Option 719's in the entire US. If you want a C650GT or Sport I would buy one now. Who buys a bike for an investment anyway unless its a Vincent Black Shadow I buy them to ride. BMW did this one very well. Its still available everywhere else in the world. Who knows maybe it will become Vincent Black Shadow status someday. Or maybe a "Garage Queen" for some. Ride often, ride safe!

How is it that you know 2020 is the last year? If you have a source at BMW Motorrad I have some other questions I'd like to ask them.
BTW, Cycle Trader lists 6 new 2020 C650GT for sale in the USA

BMW does offer the 2020 C650GT on their website. The C400X looks like the most recent is 2019. No mention of the Sport.
I seriously doubt they'll intro a new model before clearing existing inventory; scooter margins seem low so they're not going to obsolete and take discounts on existing stock. At least, that's the philosophy we followed when I worked in Product Marketing at Hewlett-Packard.

Yes. No more in Australia. However I believe you still can order unless the production of c650 ceased..

Very few motorcycles are "good investments", but I like the 650GT, easy on easy off, can lead the pack on the interstate (cars and bikes) has nice underseat storage, 2 cubby holes up front and I added a nice SHAD SH58X expandable top Case that holds 2 full face helmets! The bike new was half the price of a new goldwing and lighter. Sure it is heavy for a "scooter", but still lighter than my old 1200GS!

Only thing I do not like is no electronic cruise control, & yes worry a little about the belt drive & chain drive combo.

In the future, I see enough used 650GT, means hey will be around for a while for riding or for parts!

I'd like to follow up on this discussion. I very much want to get a 650GT for my wife—to upgrade from her smaller scooter—so we can enjoy highway riding together this year. There are only a VERY few 2020s left, and the dealers either do not know or are not sharing what is planned for 2021. The rumor here is that there will be no more 650GTs, but the dealers are not confirming that. If it were true, why would dealers not say it, in order to assure sales of the remaining 2020s? I've also heard from one dealer that some of the other BMWs are not scheduled to arrive in the US until after the second quarter (pandemic effect on component supply chain), and the 650GTs may be part of that. So my question to the forum: Given that I really WANT a 650GT, should I—A) buy a remaining 2020, if I am so lucky—or B) wait to see what actually happens by mid-2021, and then buy a used 2019 to restore, if there will truly be no 2021 model? Eager to hear your thoughts!

Emails were sent out to the dealers last year notifying them of the C650 discontinuation for the US

Thanks, Jeff! That's very good to know. I have two dealers as well as BMW Motorrad USA specifically not confirming that when asked. The lack of information from the dealers seems strange to me in this case.

If you can find a NOS 2019 or 2020, then that is probably what you should go for. But I would really push to sit on the bike and get a test drive before you plunk you money down. That may involve a bit of a drive. And there is always the possibility of buying one used on the private sale market. They come up fairly often. I would stick to a 2016 or newer due to the changes made in the engine and drive train.
