Brake pad life

For those of you that have replaced the brake pads, about how many miles are you getting on a set of pads - front and rear?

Replacing with OEM or aftermarket like EBC and have you found one brand better than another?

Heading down to Smokies end of May and thinking I will just replace pads in advance as I am at about 12,500 miles and by the trip will be closer to 15K.

i have over 25000 miles on my bike and the original pads are fine than again I don’t use the brakes much living in VT if I ride north from my house I have to go about 45 miles before I run into a stop light.

I ride into London most days, 15miles of town riding, 35 of motorway.. I get about 12k out of mine.. I ride a little adventurous. I reckon you could easily get 20k out of the standards. Just brought the Brembo pads with heat protection, I’ll update after 2k miles

I had my front brake hose recall done last Monday at the BMW dealer in Long Beach. While doing the work they called me to let me know that my rear brake pads needed replacing in a hurry since they were "just about metal to metal". This surprised me because the bike has less only 7,800 miles on it. They quoted $152 for the work, plus tax no doubt, and I politely declined.
I ordered EBC pads (double sintered) that just arrived and I replaced the rears in about 15 minutes (first time doing this, I will do the fronts next and will probably only take 10 minutes per side). The EBC pads cost $34 per caliper so I saved >$100 on the rear alone, and now I know how to do this.
I ride mostly in Los Angeles on 'surface streets' (meaning not the highways) which, as you can imagine, is a lot of lane splitting in stop and go traffic and even when traffic is flowing there's many traffic lights. So naturally the brakes wear more.
That said, when I measured the old vs the new pads, there was about 1/3 material still left to go. Of course you don't want to go to the very end, but I reckon they could have easily gone for another 2,000 miles - which would put my 'brake pad mileage' to around 10,000.
