Brake rotors

I remember when I had my K75 I do not remember the rotors with surface rust. What is BMW making the rotors from? a different material as I have surface rust on them. My 1996 Z3 rotors have no rust on them sitting in the same location.

The K75 had stainless steel rotors. One of the reasons those brakes used to squeal so much was the semi-metallic pads on the stainless steel rotors would pretty much guarantee squealing. That being said, I haven't noticed any rust on my C650GT, and it's been sitting in the garage for the past month (I usually ride my bikes so much they never get a chance to develop rust on their rotors no matter what material they're made from).

They don't make them like they used to (to bad).
I would ride but we seem to get snow (as it is doing right now) every week and our street always has snow or ice on it. Last year I did ride a couple of times a month and now it has been in the garage since mid December (our first snow fall).

When I had my k75 I lived in a condo and even on the worst days I would go to the underground parking and ride a few km (good times)

I agree with JaimeC never seen rust of any kind. Looking at my bike today, it has been siting for two months now due to having injured both hands right then left but no rust all looks well. Tomorrow I will take the cover off and clean it up some. I have to think the snow will melt shortly.

Dale, It is time to ride (hands allowing). I've been out the last two days and I am planning to go out tomorrow.

FYI...There will be an Ohio, Indiana, KY get together this spring. Probably down by Cinci. Keep an eye out for the details.
