C600 Sport Rear Gearbox Oil Change

Hum... on google there are several final drive oil amounts listed for the C600. I see 250ml, 330ml, 500ml and 750 ml? Any thoughts? I know if one adds too much oil the seal can blow from too much pressure. not enough gear oil and the chain gets dry

Maybe the Sport is different than the GT (I know nothing about the Sport), but to change gearbox oil in the GT, you drop the exhaust manifold, or figure out how to Houdini your way to the drain and fill plugs. It's a big job, so it's nice that BMW specs changing it every 24,000 miles. The guy in the video is changing oil for the chain.

The gear box takes 250 ml of 75W90 oil.

Gasket for fill and drain plugs: BMW # 07119963252

Torque for fill and drain plugs: 28 Nm (20.5 ft. lbs.)

Thanks for the reply. I saw many different oil levels called out so I decided to call my BMW service center. They used my VIN and said it is 500ml for my make and year c600sport. My owners manual says 250ml, an online manual says 330ml, The video I watched says 500ML and in another forum it was suggested 750ml. I went with BMW's recommendation of 500ml. Runs great no issues, no leaks

Another reason I chose 500ml was that your drawing shows a side fill plug. The video I watched had a top fill like mine. I think your drawing is for a 400 or 650?

Drawing is for the BMW C 650 GT. It's for changing GEAR OIL and the correct spec is 250 ml.

500 ml is the correct spec for the CHAIN OIL, which is what the video shows -- that's not gearbox oil. Both call for 75W90 oil.

The chain case has chain rails that are replaced every 15,000 miles. They help maintain proper tension. Info below.

BMW 33 35 8 533 983 CHAIN RAIL AT 15K - STAGE 1 0.18* 1 * $26.29
BMW 33 35 8 533 984 CHAIN RAIL AT 30K - STAGE 2 0.20* 1 * $26.29
BMW 33 35 8 533 985 CHAIN RAIL AT 45K - STAGE 3 0.20* 1 * $26.29
BMW 33 35 8 543 854 CHAIN RAIL AT 60K - STAGE 4 0.24* 1 * $26.29

When a new chain is installed, you reinstall chain rail #1, so anyone replacing chain rails should hang on to them for future use.

Thanks again Delray. How many miles can one expect out of a Chain on the C600 Sport? I see the 15k recommendation. Thanks for the part numbers. Also...do you happen to have a wiring schematic for at least the headlamp section please? I am putting on fog lamps and want to run them with the headlamp circuit. Hoping the canbus will not give me an error. if so I will just use a 12v relay of the battery. relayed powered by the key switch

Alas, sorry, can't help on both counts. Don't know anything about Sports and even less about wiring; it's all Greek to me.

Service Manual might be useful for you. Not expensive and includes every BMW model ... C Series, R Series, K Series, etc.
