Charge limit

Hi,

I've done some research on recommended charge limits for the CE04 (including the owner's manual to no avail).

Some EV manufacturers recommend not charging their EV batteries to 100% on every charge and leave the top level for long trips (Tesla 90%, Rivian 70%); however, no recommendation is given for the CE04, and bike software doesn't consider it. In addition BMW doesn't suggest it for their other electric vehicles, which share batteries with this one. Apparently BMW software already contemplates not charging to full capacity in its configuration.

Any thoughts on this? Would it be worthwhile to just unplug the bike when it's at 90% capacity? It'd be a nuisance but doable.

Thanks,

Felipe

I'm no chemistry expert, but I suspect that BMW already decided this for you: as only 8.5kWh out of the 8.9kWh battery is available for charging. The remaining 5% is probably there for good battery health. They also do something similar with their other cars.

In comparison, my Tesla Y lets you charge the full battery amount for long trips but pops up a warning message if you charge >95% twice or more in a row.
