Early 600 Sport, wondering about recall

A local dealer has a 10,000-mile 2013 600 Sport. I was impressed after a short ride, but I've been warned about a lot of problems with the early models and understand there was a recall. If the recall was performed, is the bike OK now, or are there more potential problems? He's asking 5,000 but I know will take less.

I believe that if you have the VIN you can call BMW to find out if all recalls were taken care of or what may be outstanding.

I would make sure the dealer has updated the cam chain tensioner to the hydraulic version. If they won't do the service , then walk away. It will cost you $900 to get it done out of pocket. If the tensioner slips it can ruin your engine. A real weak point if the one you're looking at has a mechanical tensioner. BMW released a official recall for older C series scooters. Recall # 14V-264. Make sure you question the dealer on this recall

I have a 2013 C600, that I bought 2nd hand, with 24k (km) on the clock. As far as I'm aware, there have been two recalls, both for a replacement of the front brake fluid hoses . Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
and yes, as slant911 mentioned. the closest BMW dealership should be able to check the VIN, to see if the recalls were completed for that particular scooter.
As far as problems. Since I bough mine, I have added over another 4k (km) to it, with no issues.

The cam chain tensioner is also a replaceable part, but not under strict recall.

My first Sport (2014 C600) conked out last summer and got towed to my dealership. The service manager there called up BMWNA, and arranged for my cam chain tensioner to be replaced free of charge, as it was the root cause of my getting sidelined. BMWNA agreed, covered the cost of replacement.

So while it's not a recalled part, it's one that they have discretion to replace.

HTH.
