Engine Air Filter

Has anyone changed one out? Why is this so insanely difficult haha. So you basically have to remove the entire left side of the bike. Which is held on with bolts, fine, but then rivets that are very stubborn and I’ve already snapped the plastic connector trying to get one out so that’s cool. Am I missing something or is it really supposed to be this hard, thanks!

It would help to know which bike you're talking about. 400 ... 600 ... 650 ... electric?

I can only speak to the C 650 GT. That's easy. Remove right fairing with four torx bolts, one inside glove box on the bottom, one outside at the nose of the fairing, two high on the side dash. Once the fairing is removed, three bolts get you to the air filter below the battery.

PRO TIP 1: use torx bits. Regular or even JIS screwdrivers are a recipe for frustration. T-25 and T-30 bits cover this job and most of what you need to do with the bike.

PRO TIP 2: Have a Plast-aid kit handy in case tabs break (or already have been broken). Patience is important. Wiggle wiggle wiggle. Tabs break when people force them.

Yeah sorry about that I was in the middle of working on the bike when I posted but it is a C650 Sport and in addition to the upper fairing you have to remove the lower fairing which requires removal of these plastic rivets. But I figured it out and used a s dew driver to pry them off. Thanks for the help though!

^ yea the Sport is waaay more involved in getting to the filter/battery.
You literally have to remove everything on the right side.

I had seen a video on the GT and it was so simple. Yea definitely not simple on the Sport
