Fuel Smell after a ride ('19 GT)

After any ride where the engine is warmed up, if there is little/no wind, i smell fuel after a 5min rest engine off.

Not tank fuel, but hot fuel where things just smell like escaping fumes...from somewhere. Others can smell it too.

But BMW cant.

So, I stripped all the plastic today, and I found this:

Thats the rubber that connects the throttle body to the head, the injectors spray juuust below that.

It's my feeling that this is way too leaky, oily, and dirty at 4400 miles than it should be.

Each took a full turn to be 'tight'.

I'm betting I found it, and if I did, I'm wondering if I should tell the dealer.

Anyone else inspected this area??

I cleaned it for later inspection, snugged it up.

I dont have the cold running stumble coming on the throttle anymore, and _so far_ have not smelled fuel after a ride.

So I think I got it.

Just not sure yet how to shame the dealer that i've been to -3- times on both issues that I A) Suggested were related, and B) Suggested a visual inspection would show a greasy dirty spot where the leak would be.

Hello! I also had this situation. The fact is that the original clips do not hold well. We need to change the clamps. By the way, these scooters have a much bigger problem .. This is dirt in the intake tract. The connection of the air filter and the housing is not sealed !!! It is necessary to disassemble and all the joints in the inlet tract and air box, put on sealant! I did it myself. As an example, there is a video on youtube -

Very interesting, & thanks for posting. My 2013 C650GT also has a fuel smell after getting back from a ride, so I think I need to check this out. Just how much plastic do you need to remove to get at this area?

Side panels..you get used to it.

This didnt fully solve the problem..but it was clearly a wet vapor problem -there-.
