I got home from my trip to the Gaspe' Quebec last Sunday. Did 2600 miles in varying sections . Stayed in 8 towns along the way the way; three on the Gaspe, three in New Brunswick, one in Prince Edward Island, and one in Maine on my way home. The weather was good, 70 to 75 degrees most days with a couple in the 90's and only got rained on twice.
Quebec is French speaking, mostly, I was worried about this. Fortunately, almost everyone spoke some English and my High School French was enough to read what signs and menu's were without translations. Everyone was very friendly and people went out of their way to be helpful. There were no unpleasant people along my journey. Of course people are friendly all over Canada, that's why I like to go there. Canada also takes care of their tourists, with ample rest stops with clean bathrooms, helpful information attendants and usually wifi. I worried about gas, also, unnecessarily, as I found the gas stations before I went on reserve, in most cases . Twice I got into reserve, once while crossing New Brunswick's timber country where there wasn't anything but a few logging trucks and trees for a long time, and once when I planned on fueling in a town where my recently updated GPS said there were three gas stations, I found them all out of business. A few towns later, running on fumes, the GPS found an open station.
I ride to see new things and places. The trip provided what I wanted. I loved running along the rivers of New Brunswick and wished I could spend time in the old logging towns, amazed by the roads carved out of the bottoms of ocean side mountains on the Gaspe', and surprised by the beauty of the PEI
potato fields, every mile had something to keep me interested. I had planned on posting some pictures, unfortunately this site is not allowing that.
A nice trip, I wish I had had more time to spend along the way.
