Has anyone had the bike cut off

Glad you're alright! This is scary S*&t. How do you think BMW will respond especially to the consequential damage?

And also - did you have any kind of warning or anything unusual before the lockup? If my wife knew this she'd stop riding. Glad she doesn't go on this forum!

The only problem I've had is an occasional lumpy running engine right after a cold start. Manually keeping the idle speed up for a few moments cleared that up. I also put in a bit of that Star Brite blue enzyme stuff that's supposed to make things run better and stabilize the lousy alcohol in our gas. A couple ounces of that stuff now and then in the tank seems to have eliminated the lumpy idle. The bike's been running perfectly for the last couple thousand miles now. I buy it at Walmart, a six ounce bottle lasts a long time.

I have found that I would start the scooter and after a few seconds it may stall (only when cold). I just start it up again.
I have also found that when cold I will start up accelerate and it will try to stall (like there is an air bubble in the line) and then catch in again.

In either case the scooter runs fine the rest of the day. I have about 20 days left on my warranty and I already know if I am to take it to the dealer they would not be able to duplicate the issue as it does not happen every time

Would that Star Brite stuff be the same as Sea Foam http://seafoamsales.com/powersports/? I put some in my Aprilia about a month ago and made a nice difference in the ride.

Wow this is exactly what happens to me. It only happens after just starting it in the morning. It seems to bog at low speeds when trying to accelerate from a stopped position. Once the bike gets "warmed up" though it's not an issue.

Thoughts anyone? Pinched line perhaps? Bad gas? (I only put premium in it). It's strange that it happens only in the morning after first starting it.

Kinda odd in a EFI engine, usual sort of thing with carburetors. I haven't had any problems with my GT since my last post above. The Star Bright stuff does seem to prevent those odd little moments. I don't think it's the same as Seafoam which I've used for years in my bikes and cars. That's mostly naptha, the Star Bright stuff doesn't smell at all like that. It was my BMW dealer that recommended the Star Brite. I just put a couple ounces of the stuff in the tank about every third or fourth tankful.

Sorry for such a late response, but my 2016 had this engine shut-off since mile 4 on the bike. NEW. Stalled approaching stops and tight turns six times while driving home from the dealership. Been there ever since. That, btw, has been over a month now; it's been in "diagnostics" and "research" with the factory ever since.

After six weeks of repair attempts on my 2016 C650GT (with 30 miles on the odo), it has remained in the shop where even factory engineers reprogramming my bike's ECU(s) could not fix the problem. BMW North America just bought it back. I'm told that this mine was a unique problem. I will be purchasing another new one next week, expecting that this new one will not have the persistent stalling problem.

TEN WEEKS, finally got reimbursed for the defective bike, bought the new one (bronze metallic) the same day. 100 miles on the new one already and it runs perfectly. I really like the new exhaust sound.

Happy! :eek:

Happened to me 2 weeks ago (C650GT). After exiting a highway and turning into a construction zone, riding around 20MPH, motor shutdown.

me too, a lot this week. Very unnerving when turning on green. Just you set off, there's a momentary check before it picks up.

Believe it or not ... for many "new" riders (and "new" just might mean to that particular bike itself), they unknowingly are doing it themselves by inadvertently touching the right-handgrip engine kill switch. :rolleyes:

Most other common reason can be that the engine is still cold or low quality petrol.

If you are certain none of those apply ... then obviously it needs to be checked out.
