Anyone try one of these?IMG_0891.JPG Or would electrical tape inside the visor accomplish the same effect?

I've been using Nolan helmets (and Schuberths before them) with built-in sunshields for YEARS. Far better solution.

JaimeC, I have a Shoei Neotec with the built in sun shade slider which I love. This sun locker would attach to the interior of the clear visor above the line of sight to block out extra rays... kinda of like casting a shadow over your eyes.

No reason I can see that it wouldn't work. Being removable and reasonably inexpensive it ought to be worth trying.

I bought one of those for the exact reason you mention, Lee. Never put it on a helmet but sure could have used it a few times. I do carry extra sunglasses I keep in a tank bag I use even with my tinted shield. Of course, here in Northeast Ohio I rarely need glare protection on either day the sun is out during the year.;)

Now is the time of year I'm commuting directly into the sun both ways. Can't wait till next month when we set the clocks back so I can ride some AFTER the sun sets.

My Bell helmet has a "Transitional" shield and I really like it. It is dark enough 95% of the time. Ride directly into a low afternoon Sun and a pair of sunglasses might be needed. I have a visor used for my half and three quarter helmets. I had to spray paint the underside black as a low sun would go through it.

Weather permitting, I will be going for a day ride over to Truckee on Friday. I'll be able to give a review after that ride. I already installed the sunblocker on my Neotec face shield.

I've been using Sunblocker for years. I used to paint this upper area of the shield black to accomplish the same thing. The Sunblocker doesn't completely obscure like paint or some other tapes would do. It's kind of like putting the sun visor down in your car. I also have an internal drop down visor on the helmet and the combination works great for me. I'm one of those folks that doesn't do well with sunglasses.

I had one of these sunblockers back in the late 80's on my BMW system 2. I had it for about a week, I went back to good sunglasses

Okay, so here's my user review. It was a sunny, blue sky, no clouds, no wind, dry tarmac day in the 50'sF. So I took off from Susanville to Truckee via 395, 70, 49, & then 89. My first 50 minutes were heading East with the sun at about 11:00. I don't wear glasses and I don't ride with sunglasses. I have a new Shoei Neotec helmet and I usually ride with the inside sunshade deployed. The Helmet Sunblocker is applied to the upper inside of the clear faceshield. With the Sunblocker applied, you are not looking directly through it as you ride. It is positioned above your direct line of sight. So while I was riding, I could move the faceshield both up and down, to see the effect of riding with the Sunblocker and without and also with the inside susnshade. My experience was that with the Sunblocker deployed, there was less squinting while riding in the sun. To me, it was a subtle, yet beneficial effect. I describe it as if one looks at the upper edge of the windshield in your four wheeled conveyance. Most of these windshields have tinting that goes darker from the top edge of the windshield to the upper mid point so that the driver is not looking directly through that upper tinting. However, glare is reduced. So, this item will stay on my faceshield.
