Wondering if the new iteration if J.Costa variator has improved the short milage that it needed to be changed. Appreciate your feedback.

I would go with Malossi Variator & rollers. They have much more experience with transmission parts. Just don't use the Malossi transmission belt. Also stay away from Dr. Pulley HIT clutch - not worth the money. I would highly recommend the Dr. Pulley 28GM sliders in your stock variator. Try changing to sliders & them see if you like how the BMW feels, accelerates , etc. If you not satisfied them switch to Malossi. Dr. Pulley sliders & clips cost $100 from Buggy Parts . Not a big investment to test out .

Hey Mike, what's the reason not to go with the Malossi belt?

At JW69ers - The Malossi belts are known to not last on other scooters like Vespas. I don't think they're made well enough to trust for long intervals like 13K miles. The belt from Italy on eBay is the best deal .

The Mitsubishi belt is actually made in Japan so quality is much better that Malossi

Good luck on getting all your transmission parts...

I just rolled over and looked at Carpimoto, they say they are in stock. I've tried the cheaper belts on EBAY, the weight of these scooters and the torque they put out will have you changing the belts much more than you want. Less than 2,000 miles on the first and about 2200 miles on the second. The Mitsuboshi belt already has 7,000 miles, more that the other two belts combined, if the Mitsuboshi is out of stock, I HIGHLY recommend either waiting or going OEM unless you just like trailering the scoot home and taking it apart and digging out pieces of the belt from every imaginable hole on the bike. Also, I have the Dr Pulley weights and slides, a little better leaving, but much improved in the mid range, I just buffed the clutch linings with some sandpaper on the OEM clutch, made sure all the "tar" from the failed belts was cleaned off along with the belt material and chunks of belts and put it back together again. I will also point out, I got the Mitsuboshi belt quicker from Italy than either of the cheap belts in the U.S., I think at the exchange rate and with shipping it cost me less than $100.00.

The cost is $110.07,I just placed an order at Carpimoto and it will arrive on the 13th. I like to keep wear items on hand and seeing this post reminded me I only have the original BMW belt on hand.

I just had this belt delivered to Australia from CarpiMoto in Italy for US&120.55. The belt is great, be careful when you order other parts for your BMW scooter as they may not fit, as that is what happened to me.

Mitsuboshi MAKES the OEM Belts for both BMW and Yamaha. They even have the SAME part numbers!

Finally opened her up, to find an almost new Mitsuboshi belt already installed!
Also found Dr Pulley (32 gr) rollers, but swapped those out for the 28 gr i bought to change along with belt.
So i guess now i have a spare belt and spare roller weights.

It is not the iteration but the rollers’ weight. PRO version comes with 21.5g rollers, and XRP version with 18g which makes more rpm and eats more fuel. IDK how close the rpms of the PRO are to stock variator, could someone with a PRO J.Costa please chime in?
