Lowering seat height

Has anyone here done this on the 650 GT? I am looking at getting my wife one to match mine. She is 5 foot on a good day. Right now on my bike she has to slide forward almost off the seat when stopped to plant both feet. I think 2 inches would be a night and day difference. Anyone had luck on this? Any info is greatly appreciated.

There's a lower seat available from BMW (2012 - 2015 models: 52 53 8 537 749, 2016-Current: 52 53 8 555 450), but it's not going to gain you 2", and they cost around $700 with tax.

Corbin is an aftermarket option as well, and those start at around $900, plus tax and shipping.

Then, as member @AAWW shared last month, there's nothing wrong with a staple gun and a knife to get the job done.

If you search the forums for "low seat," I'm sure you'll see a few other options as well.

The BMW low seat is about an inch lower and you loose the heat. One here for sale recently pretty cheap. I thought about it, but the difference and loosing the seat heater didnt push me over the edge.

I did email Corbin and this is what they told me:

We do make a really nice saddle for that bike. Our seat is right at 32" and for touring scooters we do not recommend to lower the saddle. Our seat comes standard with heat, and can be plugged into the OEM harness.

If your wife is about 5', this might not be the bike for her. I would look at a Vespa with the full step through. If you go over to the battle scooters section on adventure rider, there are lots of folks that seem really happy with them. https://advrider.com/f/forums/battle-scooters.36/

I think Piagio (Vespa parent) makes a 500cc mp3. When the C650Gt came out there were a lot of husbands that brought their wives in because they wanted to ride along and not sit behind their husbands. They usually left without one because of the height. Does anyone know if the C400 is aborted?

My first bike getting back into riding was a Silverwing. My wife got her license at about the same time. I picked up a PCX for her to ride and she did ok with it but was never comfortable so it was eventually sold. But it was a good size for her. I think she is about 5'4" and she did fine with being able to flatfoot it and walk it around.

I do know that the BMW C400 X has not had any new models sent to the States since 2019 with no plans to ship them.

Yes I still have the BMW lowered seat and it fits the 2019 C650GT I have.
I have not been on the site for a while & just by chance checked today! The lowered sea is now taking up shelf space in my garage & since I moved into a smaller house, shelf space is valuable. Ha! I was going to sell the 2019 C650GT and put the original heated seat back on. I am holding off selling the bike because I like the bike so much and there are no decent replacements for it in the USA market (not like Europe for scooters Yamaha has a scooter over there with cruise control!). The lowered seat is from BMW and does lower the seating for the driver aprox an inch and I did notice the difference. It did not matter to me that it doesn't have heat (now live in AZ but been riding Bikes for 55 years and never had a heated seat even in Canada).

If interested let me know.
