Motorrad N00b from San Francisco! (Need some advice)

Well, Ive just hit about 700 miles, got a 2020 C650gt right off the showroom, and have a couple questions..

I was riding at about 15 mph after taking a right turn when some a$$hole druggie decided it would be funny to throw a plastic trash dumpster into the street. I was forced to dump, and ended on my left side. The bastard got away, and as there were no witnesses, I took some photos, etc.

With the exception of some minor fairings damage, there is a very annoying problem- the ignition lock feature fails.

Any ideas before i go to the dealer would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I absolutely adore my bike (the username is just my sense of humor) and am a bit nervous about what this may end up costing...

Thanks in advance folks!

No insurance? Hard to say what might have gotten damaged, probably depends on how fast you were going when it went down? Hopefully you came out ok.

Oh, absolutely insured. That's a must. I came out fine, and the bike was going, as i said, maybe 15 mph. I have a full motorrad suit, so typically the most danger involved on a c650 is overheating (chuckle snicker smirk).. I told them about it, but the last thing i need right now is more crap from them (my daughter is on my policy and landed on the fault end of liability hellhole- at least she's safe) and seeing as im likely going to take it in due to the fact that nobody deserves to deal with something like that if there is a problem... more or less i was hoping to get a heads-up on what may have happened...

I sure hope its not something like a bent fork, i mean really, i just got the dang thing.

Went down on my left side, if that helps..

I would recommend calling this independent BMW motorcycle mechanic in Redwood City located just off Whipple Rd. He honest is a master mechanic who oped his own shop named : The Underdealership . website: http://www.theundealership.com
Call Sean & see what he thinks. Only open Mon- Fri. Wish he was open short hours on Sat. for drop off
Anyway, check in with him & see if you can get your C6550GT down to him

Good luck on getting it fixed ...

This is tangential to the question, but worth noting. “Dumping” a bike is virtually never a good idea. https://www.huffmanhuffman.com/blog/2021/january/is-it-safe-to-lay-down-your-motorcycle-when-abou/
