my scooter rides hard

I adjusted the preload spring down, thinking that was its softest(?) setting, but the bike still seems to be unforgiving over every little ripple in the road. Over really big bumps, its jarring, almost violently sending me (and my back!) on a short, wild ride.
When I adjusted the spring, I did not use the center stand. Could that be the problem? The owners manual says to set the bike on its center stand before making the preload adjustment.

I am 170, 5'9, and never ride 2 up.

Thanks

3600 miles and no stalling or leaking

Not quite the answer I was hoping for, but thanks anyway.

I may expierement with the tire pressures, or go to a different brand tire, when the time comes.

I would take it to the dealer and have them ride it and check the front and rear suspension. Sounds like something is bent or frozen. I am 129# and do not experience a hard ride. I would ride ride a demo to compare the ride.

Remember that spring is also for riding 2 up so it is going to be quite strong no matter what position you have it in, Don't under inflate your tires you will make them wear out faster and unevenly and you have poor performance out of them. What you could try is an Air Hawk pad if your butt is taking a pounding they are also good so you don't get monkey butt, hot ass etc. Your better off having a stiffer suspension than a soft suspension for a more controled riding.
