Hi - am new here and just got my freshly minted C400GT - fresh from the dealer. After so many sleepless discussion with the wife and several years of swooning at BMW bikes - I finally had her say yes to the bike. Of course, am starting with a scooter, since I am not planning to ride my way to work - just for leisure and short distance errands. I am an IT professional based in DC. Would like to learn a few tricks from fellow riders and would appreciate a few pointers to spruce up the shiny new scooter. Ride safe everyone. Ciao

Welcome.

Are you new to powered two-wheelers, or just new to this one?

Been searching for a topcase for C400GT online - i filtered the search to original BMW parts, so far the search engine kept on coming back with replacements. The dealer is charging me with install at around $1600++ (really wqay off may budget). Can anyone point me to the right online retailer. Would really appreciate the help.

Congrats on your 400GT. I bought one about 4 months ago. I have added a rear luggage rack to mine to make use of some GIVI boxes that I had. I think both look good on the C400GT. Look into the GIVI V46 and the Dolimti series in the 30L. After I had the rear luggage rack installed, I had to buy the GIVI universal monokey adapter plate. Givi has two series of topcases. They have the monokey and monlock. The monokey are more substantial. You can save money by buying a monolock topcase. Besides being less expensive (liter for liter) than the monokey, you get a universal adapter plate. That alone will save you $100.
