It was warm in New England today, and the bikes were out for a winter "bonus" ride. Last weeks rain washed the salt off the roads, along with most of the sand. On my ride, today, I saw a lot of Harleys, half of the ones I saw were parked in front of a bar in Ipswich. A bar with a big window in front , popular with people who want to drink beer and admire their bikes, after all you can't look at it if you are riding it.
Down the street at Dunkin Donuts a small group of BMW riders stood out in their matching day glow green riding jackets. I am sure no one will run them over in the parking lot while they discuss the latest gadgets they bought. All these riders were doing their thing and doing it with their buddies, not a bad way to spend the afternoon.
Me, I like to keep moving, and on this day I was planning my Summer as I rode, where to ride and how to get there. My thoughts kept running to the Appalachian Gap, a favorite of mine and many other riders. Mid Vermont , I prefer to traverse the road West to East, tight curves going up, a long runout going down. Or run the West side up and down! Anyway, in September the air is sharp and the sky's clear and blue. The Appalachian Gap is on the 2016 Notch tour, a good month for a beautiful ride, the hotels are still cheap before foliage season, and the skiers aren't clogging the roads. Come for a nice ride.

What are the roads that they will be traveling I live In VT. And travel the roads from southern VT. Up and through the northern parts of the of the state I do a lot of back roads that most out of state riders would not think of taking just wondering

Sorry, the Notch Tour has been rescheduled to September 23, 24, 25. I was checking hotel prices, and found with the upturn in the economy, hotel vacancies down , prices up, over last year. I am staying at the Hillside Inn, in Killington VT. Again this is an informal Rally, based on riding the Notches (unlike NH they are called "Gaps" in Vermont) . Other activities, riding, eating, drinking, and lying.More info to come, ride starts in Brattleboro Friday morning, leaving the Royal Diner at ten AM. Come for the day or weekend, no charge as we are just friends here.

Notch tour!!

If you want to come for Saturday of the "Notch Tour" ( September 24 ) meet us at the Sugar and Spice Restaurant on Rt 4 in Mendon VT at 8 AM for breakfast or 9 AM at the Boat Ramp parking lot at Kent pond at the junction of Rt 4 and a little North on Rt 100. A long days ride, we will go as far as Smugglers Notch, with several Notches in between.
Yes we will stop at Ben and Jerri's. The ride will return to Killington and meet for Burgers, lying, and a drink at a establishment I will post as soon as I can remember the name!!
I have done this ride several times, you will enjoy it . Notches, river valleys, and a couple of the tightest hairpins in New England, it has everything for a Fall ride.
This is a Rally for anyone with an easy going spirit, come and wear a smile.
