$125 plus $10 shipping is absurd. That's just somebody doubling the price to make easy money.

ENGINE OIL
I use a good quality MOTUL 15W50. It's $12 per liter and you need four. There are cheaper 15W50's out there. Just make sure they are API SJ/JASO MA2.

OIL FILTER
I like BMW oil filters. Again, there are cheaper options. BMW's is around $20. So that's $70 for an oil change using materials that are OEM or better.

STRAINER
There is an oil strainer tube you can clean but it doesn't need to be replaced. I suspect the only reason that's in the "kit" is to jack up the price. I pull the strainer tube out so all the oil drains out of the bike, let the oil drip off the strainer and carefully put it back. CRITICAL when you slide it back in to not let it drop down in the oil pan. Stick a screwdriver through the tube, insert it and make sure it sits solidly on a lip on the far wall before you pull the screwdriver back out. Otherwise the tube can fall down into the oil pan, and God speed fishing that bugger out.

This is valuable information to have when performing an oil change. On my “new to me” 2013 C650GT purchased May 29th, I was a little concerned about the removal and replacement of the strainer but as suggested in this post, used a long screw driver to seat the strainer and had no problems. Help in posts such as this has enabled me to replace the CVT belt, rollers and sliders, and most importantly, to change the idle actuator hoses making my scoot run GREAT. I have to give a big “shout out” here to Pappy for his suggestions. The shop manual is a must but information provided by others is invaluable.
