I've seen that video and thought it was strange! I ride the c600 sport Highline 2012 version and can believe him as you can hear the ABS working at 4:12 when he had a little back wheel step out (maybe because of gravel) and ABS taking much breaking power away. All the other corners he was even out breaking the other biker but this one he went very long! I find the ABS way too aggressive, as I'm a hard rider myself and often when hard breaking you go just over a crack in the tarmac that causes the bike to jolt, ABS kicks in making you go long, scary as heak! It comes on too easy, stays on too long and takes too much power way = me hating it and if could turn it down it totally would and I've sure considered disconnecting it as in all my years biking in London and away without ABS I've never needed it in all my emergency stops even in the wet as I don't over cook breaks and know when to release a bit to not lock up.
I had more moment I could've crashed because of the ABS than it being useful!

Apart from that the breaks are sweet I think. ABS is a very good thing I just think this one is too sensitive.

Why was he braking in a turn in the first place?? Sounds like he wants the more advanced ABS of the S1000RR, not the "basic" system on the scooter.

OR learn how to ride properly in the first place. Just my $.02

I was going to whittle this quote down to a couple points that I specifically agree with...problem is I agree 100%, so I used it all;). The only thing I would add is that experienced riders' skill set allows them to do things subconsciously that inexperienced riders do not do or take a second to figure out (that's 80 feet or so). I remember locking up a Harley I had no experience on and was able to avoid a disaster by sheer luck. Inexperience on my part with that bike.

I remain a fan of training. I've taken several classes (dirt and road) and while I consider my self "competent", I have learned something each time. Maybe just as important, I've made friends along the way that share this motorcycle/scooter experience.

That's not a brake issue, that's bad riding. He takes about every corner starting from the wrong starting point. Also if you need to brake, which you have to do as little as possible, do it before entering the corner. I think also he was beside the road when he crashed.
I ride like the devil, but like this:

Was that you? Looks like a nice trip. The guy in the crash video was taking good lines and breaking before corners if you see the whole video even out performing other bikers but at 4:12 you can see an issue, he tried breaking before the corner and seem to have a tiny back wheel lockup then kept going long as ABS kicked in!

Yup that's me. Love the Pyrenees, quiet and roads in good condition. This was on my (since stolen) R1200GSA, with the wife on her R1200R
I kindly disagree about his riding skill's. Yes he rides faster than the other guys. But the position on the road might be good on a race track but definitely is not when riding on a road. When you ride on the inside of a corner, you will come out of it at the outside and one day you'll meet a truck there. When you start on the outside and stay there till you're at the apex, you'll end up on the inside so you're away from the danger zone.
On several corners before the crash you can see he is going too fast for his skills and it's a miracle he didn't crash earlier on, because he already was in the dirt on the side of the road several times.
In my humble opinion, this was an accident waiting to happen.

I have not taken a track course, but I kinda agree with your observations about his positioning and attack angles. Nonetheless, I always like seeing a maxi-scooter competing.

All I can say is, nice road. I would like to see the damage as he got back on and rode away to show his friends
