Opinions on your C400 suspension

What are your opinions on the C400’s suspension? Specifically how it handles the bumps??

I’ve put about 10,000km on the bike. It’s been pretty good city riding where the speed is no greater that 70kph. I do find both the front and rear suspension is not so good absorbing the bumps when such as manhole covers.

For this riding season, I’ve been spending more time riding the highways......100kph or higher. I’ve ridden over sections of road where the asphalt is like a washboard. It’s only happened on the odd time here and there but when I do, the bike is difficult to manage. I do find myself in the opposite lane position. Letting off on the throttle to slow down the bike does help.

The way the bike handled the bumps reminded me of my first full suspension mountain bike. The harder the bump, the faster and larger the rebound.

I have my rear shocks set to position 1. I’m wondering if there’s a softer spring would help or should I consider the YSS or OHLINS suspension upgrades for both the front fork and rear shock with rebound control.

YSS Thailand does offer a front and rear shock upgrade option.

I have the same issues with the suspention. I find it very unforgiving... especially after riding a c650 that absorbs all the bumps and install a lot of confidence.

Do the rear shocks on your 650 have rebound control? or just compression preload?

After having mine for the past 9 months I have memorized every dip and hump on my commute to work so I can either avoid them or push my legs into the floor boards to absorb it. I'm 150 lbs and feel the bike is set up for a 200+ pounder. I have the rear shocks on there lightest setting, but its not light enough.
I like my MINI stiff but not my scoot.

Sorry for the delay... Have the rears installed. MAJOR upgrade in ride and bump absorption. Having dealer install the fronts late next week. Money well spent in my opinion.

ok, was hoping a softer ride… with all the bad roads here, the suspension kills your back, especially riding in 2 people

Yes mate it can be sacred you can adjust to suit massive improvement I just have to get the adjustment right

Suspension now soaks up the bumps. Easiest way to explain - my butt gets more seat time and no air time.

C400GT also handles better. When I ride the mountain roads before my upgrade, I would feather the brakes to slow the bike down in the turns because of the unpredictable rear shocks. Now I don’t.

Definitely help increase my riding confidence knowing the bike will not bounce all over the road.

Is there a rebound adjustment? If so, you might want to go a click or two softer. I adjust mine from stiff to soft, a couple of clicks at a time. When it starts to wiggle in the corners, I know I've gone too far.
