I'm sure this has been covered at length and in depth but I have a new player. I will be able to compare 2 replacement, aftermarket windshields to the stock offering. One is the "Ermax" and the other isn't in my hands yet but will come from a company that is VERY well liked (judging from the feed back) by the K and R crowds......I have contacted 7Jurock and asked if they offer a C650GT replacement, was told they do not but could make one, I explained that if their screens for the 650 worked as well as those for the K and R models that I would post on the forums and felt like they could expect additional orders. I have sent my OEM screen to their company and they will use it to make a replacement for me, but I think that has been upgraded to make a mold for future orders. I told them they could keep my OEM screen if they felt it would benefit future orders or help them in any way. My screen is due in their hands next Tuesday and from there they will need 5 to 14 days to make the replacement and get it shipping back to me, after this first one order fulfillment should be much faster.
NOW; I've put about 200 miles on the Ermax now and can say the wind noise is less, the helmet buffeting is reduced with the screen in a lower position, the optics on the screen I purchased are very clear and sharp but the wind hitting my arms has increased. That isn't a terrible trade off, hitting me in the arms has been more comfortable than getting my head pushed in several directions, and less noise is worth extra wind on my arms (not at an uncomfortable level) but I like to ride in cold weather so the Ermax may be better suited for summer. I felt the shipping costs were a little high, but we get spoiled by free shipping from so many companies that it may just be perspective and it's actually "fair" to sell the product and let shipping fall where it may, rather than add it to the cost of a product and call it "free". Protection from light rain was improved (got caught is a 03:30 shower on my way to work yesterday) chest, head and back were dryer than usual, but again, arms were slightly more wet even pulling in my elbows. Mounting the screen wasn't hard (only 4 screws) but I needed to screw one side down and "bow" the screen to get the other side to line up. This may be "normal" or it may have sat in a hot warehouse since it was made in 2018 and possibly lost some of it's contour. Still, an improvement over stock, and I feel taller riders would also benefit from this screen as well (like I said, it works well at a much lower setting than the original). I will be interested in comparing the 7Jurock to the Ermax and the OEM. The only dog I'll have in this hunt is which of the three gives me the most comfortable ride, I am purchasing both screens and will share MY thoughts on the screens to give you MY opinion of the three, listing where I feel each of the aftermarket does a good job, and where they may be lacking, YMMV.
I considered waiting until I had the 7Jurock and had been able to compare it to the Ermax, but figured if others (like myself) were wanting a screen it would be nice to know there will soon be a new offering from an established company to choose from.
