Rattling sound from the area of the tft display or windshield on C400GT

Hello guys, I have a new scooter that has only traveled 300km.

At low revs, during slow acceleration due to vibrations, a rattling noise can be heard from the area of the screen and the wind shield. When I put my hand on the mentioned places, the rattling stops.

Has anyone had a similar problem and know how to fix it as it is annoying me on a premium scooter?
Thank you

I bought a brand new (2022) C 400 GT last June, and have not experienced any such rattling. At least, I haven't noticed any.

Perhaps the windscreen was NOT installed properly. By that, I mean perhaps the four screws -- T25 Torx -- weren't tightened down sufficiently when the bike was set up by the dealer. The windscreen isn't installed at the factory, but rather is something that gets done after uncrating the scoot.

By the way, I'm not clear on this: does the rattling stop if you put your hand ONLY on the TFT display, or does it stop if you put your hand ONLY on the windscreen?

@wspollack Both, but when I put my hand on the case of the tft screen, it stops immediately. It happened that when I put it on the windshield, the rattling did not stop completely. I am afraid that it is the plastic that carries the tft. Does anyone have a repair manual that describes removing the screen ?I'm not going to take it off, but I'd like to understand how the screen is set up?

I bought a PDF version of the shop manual last year, a week or so after getting my new scoot. You can read about my purchase, with a link to the eBay seller, in this thread I started:

Here are two screen grabs from that PDF; after a quick look-through, they seem to be the only two pages that deal with what I think you're interested in. Curiously, while this is a C 400 GT manual, the pictures for this seem to be of the C 400 X screen:

(I put these up on my web site, because this site seems to have a bug currently -- for the last day or two or three -- that prohibits even the small images that it used to accept from being posted in threads.)

Those two pages probably won't help you much, but that's the best I think I can do.

Two recommendations:

1) Buy the manual, either the digital one I bought or a paper one that's also mentioned in that thread.

2) Take the scoot back to your dealer -- I'm assuming you bought it from a dealer, not via a private sale -- and insist that they fix whatever's wrong, because IMO a new scooter shouldn't do this (and, with my limited hearing capability, I'm pretty sure mine doesn't).

Good luck with this.

thank you very much, you are very kind. Yes, I bought it new from an authorized dealer. It seems that the picture shows a regular dashboard for the GT model and not the tft from the connectivity package. Anyway, it seems that some of the screws mentioned are not well attached. Your picture helped me to understand what the segments are ,in that part of the scooter.

Hi Lucius
Did you ever sort your rattle?
My 12 month old GT TFT screen area rattles, when I touch the TFT screen it stops.
The dealer serviced it last week and say they never experienced it so could not fix it. Funny as it is all the time at low speeds. I expected more from a BMW dealership. Perhaps I expect too much.

Hi,they solved it for me at an authorized BMW dealership, on the first service at 1000km ,at my request. I didn't ask what they did, but I can see by the fingerprints on the TFT screen that they removed that part. After 2000km, it still doesn't rattle. Those guys who told you that it can't be fixed just won't bother, you have to "motivate" them.
