It's all in flames right now.

I was about 15 miles from this today. The pic was taken a week or so ago.

10 days ago, all outdoor school activities were cancelled. I'm a teacher and the kids had no recess in the morning and lunch. The area football games were all cancelled that Friday night. This was downtown Fresno last week.

I'll try to get some better pics when the air clears.
Every once in while we get days like this:

Yep, the GT looks like it's bloated compared to the Sport.

Ha...the Sport looks undernourished.;)

Spectaculars pictures, Sean. I have a couple kids (well, no longer kids) that live in the Valley. A beautiful part of the world even with all the natural stuff that goes on there.

Did you take the firefighter picture?

Steve, what part of the Valley? As for the pics, no, "google" took them; I just copied and pasted.

Snowdog, we're due for a big one; it's been a few years. Fortunately, here in Fresno we feel aftershocks, not the full brunt.

Nice route. My son-in-law lives near there in Yosemite Lakes, and we started in Oakhurst on our 4-passes tour spring of 2014...

Steve, what part of the Valley?.....

2 daughters in Sherman Oaks and North Hollywood (I think that's part of the "Valley", right??). I've had as many as 3 out there at one time and remember when one of them told me about ashes raining down on her neighborhood.

I've never been there when anything "fun" (earthquakes or fires) was going on other than some HUGE rains that flooded the streets so quickly it was unbelievable.....and then it was gone.

Beautiful part of the world with interesting natural phenomena that takes place from time to time . Plus lots of great places to ride that I have taken advantage of when time permitted.

Yeah, that's the Valley as in Valley Girl, Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

I am about 200 miles north in the Central Valley. Fresno to be exact. If you have seen the movie McFarland, that pretty much represents the whole Central Valley with the exception of Fresno and Sacramento which both have 500,000 people.

I grew up just a little southeast of here in a small town; then spent most of my teen years on Orange County (A child of Divorce in the early 80's). Back here for college, go Bulldogs! and have been here since.

Chilly. First real ride of the year.
These are at Bass Lake. So, after unprecedented dryness, and a good year of rain the area is hit by some type of disease. All of the tall pines that are brown, are dead and are slowly being removed.

My son-in-law got married there at Bass Lake! I was just checking out those roads the other day, as I'll be exploring there this fall.

Nice!
The road with the grass/wildflowers is about 20 minutes down the hill, closer to Millerton lake. Officially "Rd 211" heading from Millerton Lake towards Spring Valley School (in case you wanted to google it). The road is fairly small, windy and just good enough to ride. Hardly ever a car and usually I'm only doing about 30 mph.
