So why can't I sell my Honda scooter?

I sold my 2003 SWing (14K miles also new tires and recent maint.) two years ago for $2,700 in Boulder to the only call I got on it, and one day before I was going to repost it at a lower price. There are still left over new ones you can find for around $5k. All it takes is one call!

New ones for 5 grand? They were retailing for over 8 grand new. Are you saying they are worth less because they are no longer made? And I did not want to lose all that money that is why I did not trade it in but am selling private sale. More then willing to come down on price but they have to ask first. If I lower to my bottom dollar price no doubt someone will come along and think the bottom is lower.

If I have to take peanuts for it I'll trade it in on a Honda Ruckus.

The dealer in town is getting 3200 for used bikes 2003 and 2004 am I wrong to think I can get for mine what they would get for mine if I sold it to them at a loss?

This one here, says good tires good belt Ext. Mine has new tires and belt. And don't let the 51 thousand mikes scare you? Mine has well under 20,000 miles on it. He wants 2 grand for his, 2500 to 3000 for mine does not seem out of line.

"Wants" is the operative term for sure. Who knows if he'll get it. I'm amazed at things I've sold on CL for a price that I was surprised to get; and other times couldn't give away something else at about any price.

The other odd factor is timing. Your price for the scoot seems reasonable but for some unknown reason the right person isn't looking right now. Then in 30 days you could list it and have 3 people coming over who have to have it right now.

If you believe the price is right then take 3 months and see what happens. By then you are sure to have connected with anyone in your market who is looking.

Kelly Blue Book puts the retail DEALER asking price at $2,500, and the trade in at $1,700. If a private party gets $2,000 they are doing really well...and that's with MY SoCal Zip, your prices will be LOWER...

Link no longer works maybe they sold it. I know I bought mine for 3,200 and about 5 months later I saw another one an 04 sell for about the same. It did not last long either. I bet the shop would have un loaded my bike weeks ago had I traded it in.

I did get an offer on it for 2,000 but I gotta stop selling at low ball when people insist I buy at going rates.

I had a Ruckus for about a year. I did like it. Fun, easy to ride. Lots of room to carry stuff too. However, I sold it in favor of a Vespa 150 because I wound up on too many roads with a 45mph speed limit and that is pressing the limit for the Ruckus. Unless you are on some pretty slow traffic streets under 35mph it can be a little dicey. If you did some mods and got it to 50mph like some people do I think it would do the trick for about any surface street riding.

Still for sale. Lowered for a winter special. Raised price to 2,100 and will leave it there. Guy came out and would have bought it but it was for the wife and she was intimidated by it so he passed.

Every now and then I have a buyer who wants to come look at it. One guy did and was sold but the bike was for his wife and she was not ready for that size a bike. Another guy set up a time to see it then said his car broke down and there was going any scooter money he might have had.
