Suggestions for scuff marks

Hi all. Now that it's ALMOST riding weather in Minneapolis, I've had my C650GT out a few times. The boots I wear while riding have a black rubber sole on them. I notice I have a few scuff marks on the gas tank lid from getting on and off the bike (I'm careful, but I'm only 5'8"...).

I've tried rubbing them off with my finger, but no luck. Any ideas on what I can use without harming the paint?

have you tried some bug and tar remover? might want to use in a small area first, just in case. I didn't remember the door being painted, my sport it is just plain.

I would go to custom cycle and see if they had somthing to clean it with, then go with what Webbikeworld used to clear coat plastic to keep from scuffing it again.

Try Meguiar's Scratch-X first. If that doesn't work have it clear coated or have a professional detailer buff it out.

3M makes a film available at most body shops. I'd invest in it to install over this area. At least the paint would be unharmed.......
