Suspension issue

My right fork seal blew at 380 miles. I noticed some oil on my front wheel in the morning. Upon closer inspection, I found out the right fork seal was leaking. I took the bike to CalMoto BMW dealer in Mountain View and they fixed it. It took them about 3 weeks to get the part in the country as the scooter is too new and no one had the part. Fortunately everything works fine now.

3 weeks?!! That was really long time to ship a new part. Anyways, sometimes that really do happen especially when the part you need is very hard to find. As long as your bike is ok now, theres no need to worry about it.

I work for an Italian (manufacturing)/German (stock warehouse) company, 3 weeks for a part is not uncommon. I have parts that cost over $200 USD for a small part, and 20-30K for larger parts and take that long. The problem getting them to the states is in thier thinking that parts of certian items are not going to have an issue. So they are "Piece meal" orders, meaning they are made as needed. Now if there was a sense of urgency, say you were the VP of BMW USA, then they would have had it the next day, taking it off the assembly line spare parts. but normal folk have to wait as they won't normally remove from build stock. And when August comes around our Italian site shuts down for holiday, we have to send out emails always reminding customers that if they want a spare part or unusual item for spare they need to order it either before mid-july or after mid-sept.
It drives us crazy over here!

Ya know... if your Ford F150 needs warranty work that will take all day, they have a shuttle that will take you to work or back home AND come get you when your truck is ready. If the repair will take longer they set you up with a loaner.
For some people, their scooter IS their transportation and it seems unsatisfactory that a vehicle manufacturer cannot recognize the predicament they may place there customers in while correcting a manufacturing defect and offer similar support.

I wonder if there might be a profit differential between a BMW scooter/motorcycle and a Ford F-150?

I KNOW there is a substantial profit margin for a Vespa 946!

I thought a large part of the audience for the introduction of the BMW scooters was supposed to be the BMW car owners wanting to get onto 2 wheels. I KNOW they would not tolerate the level of service that those of us coming from other 2 wheelers are accustomed to.

Well, I think the buyer market for the c600 and c650gt is not so much the owners of car BMW's but boomers and maybe other long term motors cycle-types that wanted a more sophisticated easy to ride machine. I could be wrong (not that has ever happened before) but when i had a 5 series I never even thought about a BMW bike. In fact, I owned a KLR 650 when I bought my 650gt.

What kind of bike did you have before your BMW c600?
