Thank you!

A few months ago I sold my C600 Sport and bought a Honda NC750X. There were several reasons I made the change but the option of a DCT transmission made it an easier charge. Just recently completed a 10,000km trip from Toronto to California on the Honda and it was an amazing trip. Its not my intention to try and sell anyone on the Honda but if you are making a change anyway give it consideration as that DCT is easy if you are coming from a CVT.
The intent of this is just to say thanks to an amazing group on this forum who helped me understand not only the various aspects of BMW scooter ownership but two wheels ownership and use in general.

Cheers to all!

Well, if I change from the C650GT, it's going to be the R1200RT, but that will be next year!!

I have a Honda ctx 700 with dct great bike, I had to put a Corbin saddle on it and a taller windshield but that was it. The seat that came with it is terrible and the 6 inch wind screen didn't do much, I would have changed these things anyway.

Although I'm still holding on to the C650GT for winter commuting I've been putting all of my commuting and short rides on a 2016 Zero S electric motorcycle. NO transmission (DCT, CVT or otherwise). No valves, no clutch, no spark plugs, no engine or transmission oil, no coolant... it is the perfect Urban Commuter. The reason I said I'll be using the GT for the winter commutes is because of the superior weather protection combined with the heated seat and grips, and the ability to use my electric clothing. The cold weather reduces the overall range of the Zero to begin with, and powering electric clothing would only reduce it more.

Also, other than my car, you can't beat the C650GT's underseat storage for shopping at CostCo.

The "frunk" (fake tank) on the Honda holds a full face (my Neotech) helmet so not quite as much as the BMW but I have done several CostCo runs with that and panniers.
Zero is an interesting bike but very little in dealerships here in Canada.

Well, Colin, you have been a great contributor in a lot of ways. I hope you continue to stay in touch.

How hot was it when you were there? What gear are you wearing?

It was 115 degrees at Badwater, Death Valley. Two days later passing through Vail, CO on way home and it was 20 degrees and snowing. For gear I have a Klim jacket and pants, both Goretex. I found they were great for extremes with zippered venting in both. Lucky to get on sale at about 35% off and no tax. In Arizona I had the only rain and a major downpour at that and I was bone dry on inside. If you are going to experience extremes it has to be Goretex or you will need storage for typically layered brands like Olympia.

I bet it was a great trip. Did you get a 2016, or earlier model NC? the new model looks pretty sleek. Not taking anything away from the previous models, just that the update really looks good. Kind of like the C650 sport, great update, C650 GT, not so much.

Got the 2016 model and in Canada we get the Euro/Japanese spec NC750X rather than the US NC700X. Main difference is 745 vs 670cc and some other features. https://motorcycle.honda.ca/model/adventure/nc750xa
