Tire changer

Has anyone used the tire changer from harbor freight (or in Canada princess auto) with success on the scooter tires

We've used the No-Mar system many times for my T-Max and for my C650GT (as well as with my K1200LT). Don't know if the Harbor Freight version is a knock-off or something completely different, though.

One of my friends bought the HF changer and we couldn't get the front tire mounted. Not sure if it's the size, geometry, or what but we worked at it for about 20 minutes and were more likely to break the changer than get the tire mounted. He's done four other scoots (X9, Big Ruckus, Yamaha Majesty, Rally 200) all without issue.

The only bike we had a problem with on the No-Mar system was that giant piece of meat mounted on the rear wheel of the Triumph Rocket III. My friend said it was even harder to change than the run-flat tires Harley mounts on their police bikes. He even had to buy a new set of tire irons since he bent the ones he had trying to lever that thing off the rim. Unbelievable.

Other than that bike, we've never had a problem with any other bike. Definitely worth the money if you do your own work.

A friend has the HF tire changer. We've used it to mount several Goldwing tires with it. It looks quite a bit like the cheaper No-Mar model. He welded a piece of square stock to the base of his changer so it plugged into the trailer hitch socket on the back of his truck which made it portable, very handy, much better than screwing it to the floor.
I have changed Goldwing tires using tire irons in the past. It's doable but hard work. Big C clamps or a good sized vise will help with initial bead breaking. Tire installation lube works better than soapy water.

This scooter is one machine that I'll use Dyna beads in for balancing since a hand balancing set up won't work with the scooters single side arm mounted rear wheel. I've tried Dyna beads on my previous Goldwing 1800 for the same reason, no way to stick an axle through the rear wheel to hand balance. The Beads work fine.

I am on my second set of tires (near the end that is why I am interested in a tire changer) in the set of tires the guy who installed them used dyna beads. I have not had any problems or cupping like the first set (with weights) I will use dyna beads again. One ounce in the front and two ounces in the back

The original tires had 100 grams of weights on them (on one side). The work shop manual specifies only 80 grams evenly distributed, from the factory it was wrong
