Tracking your stolen property

An idea for detecting a theft - hide an Apple airtag somewhere in the plastics of your scooter.

It won’t stop a thief but you’ll be able to track it down.

Batteries last about three years apparently.

When my old c600 got stolen in November last year, I had a similar concern.

Looked all over at GPS tracker solutions for motorcycles -- from ones you wire into the harness to ones you smack on a steel bit with strong magnets, and finally went with an Invoxia tracker that I got on sale for $100, and slipped it into my storage.

Perhaps I'll get an AirTag as a stealthier backup option, and tape it somewhere discreet where motivated thieves wouldn't look.

As for the Invoxia, I've been delighted with it, and have it set up with IFTTT to text me if/when the bike is disturbed, and log those events into Google Calendar. It does need recharging every couple months (and I will have to start paying $40/year for a subscription sometime in 2022), but I like that it works with GPS, rather than relying on someone with an iPhone getting near it to be useful.

Heck, it even lets me know when the dealership is actually working on my bike when I take it in for service. :)
