Weight Limit and riding 2 up

Does anyone ride 2 up over the weight limit (412 lbs.) on the C650GT? If so, how much over the weight limit, and what was the experience like? Any damage to bike or suspension? Just wondering what happens if you exceed the weight limit.

Well, depending on your skill set and how much over the "recommended" limit, probably bad stuff likely. Also depends on the location of the weight. High and heavy....not so good. (Of course, that's true with any bike.)

I want to take my girlfriend for a ride but we exceed the 412 lbs. weight limit by about 30 pounds and I wanted to know if that really matters and if I risk any damage to the scooter...

Never gave it a thought... I weigh 120 kg, my wife 70. So that would be 535 lbs I guess. She, the wife, doesn't ride with me on a daily basis, but I never noticed any complaints from the machine when we ride two up.

190 kg is a little shy of 420lbs. So not sure where the extra 135 lbs is coming from but maybe you are including gear and clothes and perhaps a pet pony.:D

But your point is well made. A bunch over esdevore's weight concern and no problem. Plus Sparkrn has more than a few miles at a higher number and reports no issue. So, 412lbs sounds like esdevore should be good to go.

(Man, I am jealous of you guys that get your gal to ride with you so often.)

I've ridden many times to the the neighboring town about thirty five miles away, both surface streets and freeway with my wife on the pillion. We're a bit tall and weigh about 420lbs together and I keep have about twenty pounds of stuff in the bike including the top box. The bike handles well at 25mph and 70+. I have the monoshock set at its highest setting and the tire pressure at that recommended for two passengers and cargo. Acceleration is a wee bit slower and braking distance is a bit longer but not seriously. If you have a well experienced pillion rider who knows not to move around when the bike is going slowly, stopping and starting out you won't even notice the passenger back there. We use Sena Bluetooth units on both our helmets, makes a great intercom and links to our phones.
