What do you use to secure the tool roll?

With cold weather cutting down the days I can ride I'm thinking about stuff that I wasn't concerned with earlier. I searched the forum and didn’t see anyone else ask this so here goes –

Did your bike come with something to attach the tool roll to the bottom of the seat? Mine did not so this morning I looked on a parts fiche and they list an 88X3mm o-ring (2 required) along with the tool roll, separate tools and document envelope.

Does anyone have them or was there something else to hold the roll? O-Ring.JPG

Thanks!

Mine didn't come with anything special that I know of. I just use a rubber band.

I just looked: I have 2,3,4,5,6,8,10. Basically no o-ring and no fuse gripper.

If you wanted the rubber band , you should have bought a Honda, my Silverwing had one, but, not the BMW. Good question though, considering it has the hooks for the band.

My scooter came with the 2 O rings you speak of but only one was usable for the tool roll. The second O ring is for the owners manual, it does not have the clips for the O ring so I put a couple of screws (above and below) to secure the owners manual in place.

Interesting. I had the one securing the tool roll, but not the one to secure the owner's manual. Now that I replaced the stock saddle with the Corbin, I don't have either. The owner's manual just bounces around in the cargo cabinet. I used the tie-offs of the tool roll itself to tie it to one of the exposed frame rails on the side of the compartment. It stays pretty securely out of the way there, so I'm satisfied.

I carry more tools then normal, to help fix my friends bikes on the road. I just have a bag to put them in and their weight keeps them securely on the bottom of the compartment. The manual stays in my top box. Gravity secures it there too.
