    Hello from Sussex UK

I like it but it is different. You feel like you are riding a bike but its more like driving a car. Mine has the semi auto so you are shifting gears with a paddle switch on the left grip. The bike will downshift on its own or you can do it yourself. One brake, a foot pedal on the right. And...

    Hello from Sussex UK

Yes, it's a 2010 RT. I keep it for a couple of reasons. It's the only bike my wife will ride on and we use it when we go camping. And it hauls quite a bit of stuff besides the two of us.

Where is the 2nd onboard power socket? ('20 GT)

Not sure what qualifies as expensive. I bought the connector form my 09 R12RT and it was 25 bucks at the dealer. It was just the specialized connector with a 2 or 3 conductor lead IIRC. On the RT, the power for the GPS stayed on for about a minute and change after the bike was shut off. Not...

Where is the 2nd onboard power socket? ('20 GT)

I wouldn't worry about adding a 12v outlet and voiding the warranty. I added one above the left compartment so I could power the gps which has a cigar lighter type plug. You would have to do something really outrageous to cause some sort of failure that wouldn't otherwise have occured.

First oil change on my C650GT

I finally found my odb2 adapter. Sometimes I'm too smart/dumb/forgetful for myself. I had squirreled it away in a tool roll that I had on the other bike and moved to this one when I got it. I have the motoscan app on my phone and once I figured out which version of the bike to use (there...

First oil change on my C650GT

I've found that most of the routine stuff that people bring in for service can be done DIY if you have the patience and reasonable skills. I've been messing around with fixing things since I was a teenager including cars and boats and lately bikes. Even professional mechanics had to start...

First oil change on my C650GT

Bike has about 750 miles on it, and service was on in the display. First oil change is 650Miles IIRC, so I had gotten the oil and filter in advance. I also had one of the plastic adapters to spin off the oil filter. I had the pages for the oil change from the service manual printed out to...

Anybody have the BMW Low seat on their C650GT?

So you took off about 30mm. Was that just on top or did you taper the sides as well. How does the seat feel with less foam in it? Can you flatfoot it now? Thanks

    Removing backrest on 2018 C650GT

I noticed last weekend on my ride that it seemed like I was sitting more forward and had less leg room. So today I moved the backrest back down to almost flush with the seat. Using the original bolts, I left in some spacers to raise it up about 8mm in front and 12 on the top hole so it tilts...

Has anyone done a dual headlight mod on their C650GT?

Back in the day I worked for a company that designed and built headlight assemblies for cars and trucks. Part of the design process was to model the reflector to the bulb so that it put the light where it was needed and not blind oncoming traffic with glare. This was all part of the DOT...

    C650 GT won't start

If the battery is original, replace it. It probably wont take a charge anymore, one of the cells may have shorted or opened. You can measure voltage across the terminals, it should be over 12v, probably closer to 13 or more. If there is a load on the battery, it will draw the voltage down. A...

Anybody have the BMW Low seat on their C650GT?

Just curious about how this compares to the oem seat. According to BMW's site, difference in height is 31.7 to 30.9 or .0.8 inches. Doesnt seem like a lot and you loose the heat. Anybody have a bike with one that can comment? BTW, my inseam is about 29" and I do OK on the current seat...

How do you lift a C650GT onto the centerstand?

I find it easier then my previous scoot, a Silverwing and R1200RT. What I dont care for is having to make sure the sidestand is up so the rear wheel isnt locked. That said, I have one hand on the handlebar and one on the rear grabrail. Balance the bike on both of the centerstand feet and push...
