2x updates for the C400GT / C400X for 2025.

No.

This is the comment I just added to the YT video:

The cubby storage size is now about the same as the Zontes 350 E, which also has a two-position windscreen. And the Zontes (alas, not available in North America) also has TPMS, makes about 10% more HP, and costs thousands of euros less. The C 400 bikes have two front discs to the Zontes' single disc, but that's the only advantage of the C 400 that I am aware of.

As a former owner of a '22 C 400 GT and the current owner of a replacement '23 C 400 GT: let me know, BMW, when you add TPMS (or change the ridiculous sideways placement of the Schrader valves so I can add a FOBO sensor to the front wheel) and cruise control. Then a new version might be worth upgrading to.

If you're interested in learning about that Zontes, by the way, check this out from Scooteria (a vlogger whom I respect):

Keep in mind that I'm a big fan of the C 400 bikes. I'm on my second GT now (engine problem with the first), and have ridden the X for three tours in Europe (one of those in the Alps). They have superb handling, and I rely on the very good braking potential when doing spirited riding in the twisties. And the ergonomics are pretty good, and it looks pretty sharp, too, IMO.

All of that said, the jackass Schrader-valve placement really annoys me. The sideways placement might be convenient for adding and checking air, but it precludes the owner from adding an external TPMS sensor to the front wheel, and to add insult to injury BMW doesn't offer an internal system for this bike.

And no cruise-control on a throttle-by-wire bike? BMW keeps touting "urban" this and that for their scoots (e.g., "Design for your urban environment" at https://www.bmwmotorcycles.com/en/models/urban_mobility/c400gt.html), but a Grand Tourer -- that is what "GT" stands for, right? -- implies long-distance capability (and that's how I use it sometimes).

Anyone care to make a list for me of BMW's other bikes for which they don't offer TPMS and cruise?

If BMW wants to step up their game with the C 400s, they'll have to do better than adding "coloured tape" and a lit logo on the ground.

I like the adjustable windscreen. I wonder if that is compatible with the 2023 as I might add that mount if it is. I had this on my Indian Charger (electronic) and loved it.

I like the looks and features of the new C400gt and if buying new today would likely opt for it over a 2024, however the only thing that would tempt me to upgrade from my 2023 would be more hoursepower (bigger displacement engine) and cruise control.
... and TPMS.

Regarding the engine, I guess a bump up to 400 cc would be nice. Suzuki's current Burgman 400 is within a cc or two of that (but actually makes less horsepower, from what I've been able to read).

But once you start getting bigger than that, you're talking about a different bike. All the bigger scooters -- BMWs extinct 600/650 Sport/GT, Yamaha's T-Max, Suzuki's extinct 650 Burgman, Kymco's AK550, and Honda's X-ADV 750 come to mind (and I think Honda's extinct Silver Wing) -- dispense with the swingarm-mounted engines, in favor of frame-mounted engines, i.e., a completely different design.

By the way, I added a lengthy comment to the Motorcycle.com article -- you'll be able to tell which one, as I harp on the same stuff I rant about on this forum. Maybe if BMW happens to read enough of my comments, they'll decide to make some changes I can get excited about.

What to say about the model refreshment, is it worth to update the 2024?
My gosh; I am going to sound like a contrarian here. I think the GT shows a much needed refresh. The adjustable screen and display are both nice features for the way I ride. Topcase being standard seems very interesting too, if that is offered in America. I'm tempted.

I am certain cost is the issue when deleting cruise from this bike. Still, like you, i just don't understand why it was not offered as an optional purchase. Any modern bike, regardless of large frame or step through, classified as a GT, should have cruise available at least as an option. IMO.

Yes @wspollack; TPMS too!

I believe the Piaggio & Kymco 500 are swing arm machines? I owned 2009 Piaggio. It was a nice scooter. Very fast. It would go at least 105 mph. It was not as refined or as smooth as the BMW C400. Just got back from a 500 mile ride through the Ozarks, and really feel like this BMW is fast enough for the type of riding I do. I do not ride on interstate highways and did not have any issues keeping up with traffic. So I have decided that this scooter is actually big enough for me. I've always had this feeling that you can't have too much power. But I have enough today. Really like this scooter.
