Backrest feedback, Givi vs Shad

Hi! New owner and super excited to learn about the scooter. After riding it home, I realized that I want to install a backrest right away.
After a quick search, found out that BMW doesn’t make one but Givi and Shad do.
Any advise on which one is best? Will appreciate pros and cons if you can share.

I'm a relatively new owner of a 2020 650 GT. Great bike. Wife was used to my RT 1250 top box as a back rest and wanted one for the Scooter.
I got the Shad and it works great. It was an easy install but you have to make two orders. One is for the mounting bracket and the other is for the backrest itself. (ask me how I found out about that 🤣). It was an easy install and took about 10 minutes. The only issue I had is that there is a cover that says "Shad" for where the backrest attaches to the mounting bracket. It didn't fit and I didn't want to screw it up. It's no problem however as it's all black there and nobody notices that it's missing.

My wife is a happy rider and I'd get it again.

Thank you for the reply. I was about to order one but I found out that they are off until next year. I am going to go with the Shad. Will post pictures when done.
 
OK, is so awesome to have a forum to share and find out about a common hobby. I have learned a lot in the last few days.

I changed my mind about installing just a backrest, after seeing some posts from within the forum, I end up liking the following combo from SHAD

1. Top Mount (W0CE42)
2. Top Case SH39 (D0B39106)
3. Backrest Pad for SH39 Top Case (D0RI3900)

but then I saw within SHAD the following
1. Top Case TR48 (D0TR48100B)
2. Double Backrest Pad (D0RI75)

Unfortunately, it is not clear to me if Top Mount (W0CE42) will work with Top Case TR48 and SHAD is on Holidays until next year so I can get an answer until then.

Have anyone install this set up? Any feedback of something that I am missing?

Quick Update, After talking with people from SHAD they informed me that Top Case TR48 will NOT fit the CE 04... Webpage was updated...

So I had to stick with the non square top cases :(

PLUS the Top Mount is in back order, so it will take a few weeks before it is delivered.
 
Not sure if people care, but after placing the order with SHAD I was told that they were back ordered and it will take a couple/few weeks to get the parts. I end up cancelling the order and instead I went with Top Vario Case and the Wunderlich rear rack, got all the parts last week and will be installing them soon.

Hi I had the same experience with ShadUSA for a order (Backrest) so I've order on MOTOBLOUZ French website really good fast delivery and competitive price even if it's in Euro.
I've order as well my Puig hi screen as well.

Well, FOUR weeks after getting the scooter, I finally got the parts and found the time to put them together.

I end up going for the Vario Top Box instead. To avoid losing the rear passenger I went with a Wunderlich rack. Sadly they are out of a crucial part so I had to get creative and used an additional adapter but if I don't mentioned it, you are not likely to notice it.

Just my luck, I will not be able to test it this weekend :sad

Over here the bylaw is from the 1 december to March 15 you need snow tires on your vehicles but since it's freezing like well forget about it! I take the subway much relax.
But March 15 if the weather permit ! Beware I'm on the road!!!

can you post a picture of the bottom of the topcase? is it the same as the other Vario cases? I want to add one to my C400GT and was hoping it would fit the OEM rack

It is NOT the same. IF you want to use the key barrel that you get when you purchased the motorcycle, you will need to get the TopCase specifically designed for the CE 04.

That said, I did NOT installed the specifically designed CE 04 TopCase!

I used the one from F800GS but I was able to do that because I also bought the Kit For Luggage Rack for the F800GS and was able to bolt it to the Wunderlich rack.

IF you are using the Wunderlich CE 04 Luggage Rack you can use the Topcase from your F750GS, all you have to do is get the Kit for the Topcase.

quick search shows that the Kit for the Topcase will be - 46548414599
