After nearly snapping one of my rear indicators off by daring to walk too close to the back of the bike in the garage, I thought I'd order the BMW indicator supports.
Whilst they certainly beef up the stems and prevent them moving up/down, they are still fairly free to move backwards and forwards. I suspect this is a trade off so that a rear collision doesn't result in taking the whole rear light/licence plate/indicator assembly off.
Oddly, there are two mounting holes for the supports. One larger one that uses the same bolts as the indicators currently use, and one smaller hole underneath which appears pre-drilled on the bike, so perhaps they were always meant to be fitted, but weren't for some reason? I'd love to know why...
Cost (still somewhat unhappy that BMW actually charge for this!!) was $65 Australian dollars. Had to fit them myself (took five minutes).
TLDR: Seems like the indicators are still somewhat sacrificial, just less so.
