Can I use a Optimate 4 charger on my 2025 C400 (four weeks out) using the power port in the glove box, as I have been doing for years on a GTL and GA?

Possibly.

- The owner's manual -- at least the manual for C 400 models older than yours -- would lead one to believe that it's not possible (unless perhaps hooked up within a minute of bike shutdown).

- On the other hand, forum member @mzflorida has reported that he does what you're asking about.

- On the third hand, I opted to bypass both the power port in the cubby AND the SAE battery pigtail that the dealer added, instead installing a Powerlet/BMW/DIN-something/Hella/John Deere socket connected to the battery (as I've done on all my bikes since 2007). I've never tried to use the power port for charging.

- Other folks have some other comments.

See these threads for a more complete answer:

(By the way, did you notice that you started this thread in the CE-02 General Discussion sub-forum? There's a C400X - C400GT General Discussion sub-forum, which is where I assume you meant to start this. If you can still edit your post, you might want to add “C 400” to the title.)

Thank you for your comprehensive response. I did a search on the forum but your links were helpful. No, I did not. I even made an effort to make sure I was in the right place. I looked at what you have. After you connect it to the battery where is the power outlet coming out of the bike?

Underneath the left thigh, which is my preferred location for the socket.

I use it for both smart-charging (every day in the garage, winter or not) and for very rare heated gear use (where a cord doesn't interfere with a passenger, doesn't get mushed against bodywork, doesn't interfere with steering, provides maximum length when you forget to unplug it while getting off the bike, allows you to plug in or unplug with just the left hand, etc.

I have pics of the plug on the C 400 GT and other bikes, past and present, in this particular post:

And I have 15 images and captions detailing my installation on the Beemer in my C 400 GT gallery, starting with this image/caption:

Of course, that's just my preference.

Thank You. I enjoyed the video Adirondack Park. Your ideas here are great. Duplicates what the K1600s have. So anxious for the scooter to get here. The Burgman 650 is a bike I no longer have, just wanted to belong until the C400 arrives.

Thanks for the kind words.

I just now updated the tail end of https://billanddot.com/C400GT/ with a few pics describing the small behind-the-windscreen shelf that I posted about here a couple of days ago.
