Has anyone put one of these one button parking brakes on their bike?

I tried to add something like that, when I first got my C 400 GT about two years ago. It couldn't fit alongside the lever properly, even after I enlarged the opening with some big drill bits, to try to remedy the situation. And even then, to only sort of, kind of, make it work, I would have had to screw down the lever bolt way too tight. I don't remember all the details, but it was a definite failure.

I have pics, links, and a caption, regarding the one I bought and what I ended up with (possibly the same thing you have -- I keep it in the left cubby, and don't have a problem on those rare occasions that I have to use it), at this image in my gallery:

By the way, the link to the gizmo that I could NOT get to work doesn't list the 400 model now (I just looked), but it did two years ago. Still, I seriously doubt that the one you linked to is significantly different, i.e., I wouldn't buy it.

That's my story and opinion, for whatever they're worth.

Thanks Bill;
The one I linked to looks almost exactly like the one you tried that didn't work for you. The one I have is the same one you are using and it works. I would not say that for me it has been a rare ocasion to use it though. It seems like when I am on vacation in the mountains in SD, or the foothills of AR the Ozarks, and the area in TN, PA where the Blue Ridge Parkway/,Dragon's Tail, and Moonshiner 28 rides are I use it a lot. Just got back from the Ozarks in AR. We stayed in Branson MO and they did not have a flat parking lot anywhere except WalMart.

I'm always looking for a better and easier way. But I guess this is not it. It looks like a good idea but you have to impliment correctly and it has to work or it is just a waste of time. I did ask the person on Facebook forum, that was having trouble instaling it, to post if he got it to work.

Maybe they have made changes to the unit , but it sure doesn't look like it and I want to know that it is going to work before I purchase.

Well, it's only $6, so maybe you should just give it a shot -- what the heck? But if you get it, be prepared for some potential modification of the hole, watch out that you don't have to make the lever-holding bolt so tight that the lever can't move, and so forth.

And I guess that you park more on slopes than I do. You've certainly traveled more on the scoot. BTW, I'm planning on getting some pics at the Tail of the Dragon on the 400 in about three weeks, to add to my collection, i.e., https://www.billanddot.com/Deals-Gap/ .

I love to modify stuff that will make my riding experiance more enjoyable, You talked me into it. I'll give it a try. There is something else I want from there so I get that as well.

The person on the facebook c400gt page posted that their unit is working well and they did not have to modify anything. Plug and play so to speak. They said you just have to use the supplied hadware. He did note that every thing was black except the supplied nut which is stainless and kinda sticks out. I think I can live with that or maybe paint it black. So now just kinda waiting for it to come in and some good weather to happen here. Its been just a little to cold to ride. Had one 68 degree day last week then went back into the 40,and 50's.

Edit 4/27: I just got a date of delivery of May 6th so I will report back after I get the product and give it a try. It's 76 degrees outside right now so I'm ridin.

That's it exactly. You need to apply the brake and then it will just fit on the lever and hold the brake on
Being ABS, I'm not sure how it would handle different-sized grips, such as the foam Grip Puppies I have over my grips. By contrast, the very slightly more complicated BrakeFix -- https://www.wunderlichamerica.com/BMW-Motorcycle-BrakeFix -- that I have has no problem dealing with my situation.

But that BCLONG from Walmart -- https://www.walmart.com/ip/BCLONG-A...ok-Safety-Parking-Lock-Accessories/5326726054 -- might do the trick, and is certainly cheap enough.

Wouldn't a Velcro strip work just as well?
Probably it would, but these are a little more secure, i.e., less chance of their coming apart (which might happen with a hastily wrapped velcro strip).

Also, the plastic ones -- either that fixed-size one from Walmart, or the sort of ratcheting-step one from Wunderlich -- seem easier (to me, anyway) to put on with one hand, while you're seated on the bike and holding the brake lever with your other hand (to keep the bike from rolling backwards, while you get things squared away). I keep the Wunderlich one in my left cubby to facilitate all this, i.e., I don't have to get off the bike first, etc.

Great point about the grip puppies, Bill. I'm failing to see the connection between the GT's ABS and the passive devices we're discussing here. What is your concern?

D'oh! I meant ABS plastic, i.e., that they wouldn't be adjustable, work for different-sized grips, like the Wunderlich ratcheting parking brake gizmo.
I just ordered some foam grips for my C400gt. I had them on my last three bikes and they are my favorite, I found some Grab Ons that are 4.25 inches so I won't have to cut them. Also they work with my heated grips which is nice in Wisconsin.

I agree those little brake levers might not work with these.

Got my little button brake stop today so will try installing it soon.

I recently purchased and installed the same lock, but had to make some minor adjustments
.
-The base plate end had to be ground back slightly to fit into location.
- The brass insert is about 2mm short so you have to cut a shim from the other supplied spigot to make it work otherwise you will lock up the lever handle when tightening.
Also add a drop of superglue under the lock plate to hold it in place. Once you have set your locked lever position, I locked brake lever in place overnite with a cable tie after the final adjustment was made so that the glue could set.
Other than that once you have it set up it works great

Take any close-up pics you'd care to share?

I did it slightly different.

I sanded the outside of the brass insert to fit the hole. I used 300 grit and smoothed with 600 grit. (It was only slightly too large.) I think you are correct that the longest insert is still to short but so far that has not been an issue for me. I'm going to re investigat. (So far I have no pressure on the lever.)

The drop of super glue is a good idea. I'm going to loosen up the thing and do that today. Right now as I have it, it is working but I am not confident that it will stay in place.

One more issue. Being picky I guess, but the little rod that holds this thing in place is metal and the lever is metal so they are rubbing against each other and scratching the brake lever. It just bugs me, so I am either going to put a piece of leather or rubber on the lever so it has some protection. I think that will hold the pin, which is held down by friction, better as well.

It is definitly going to work and it is more elegent and easy to use than that thing I was taking out of my glove box and attaching all the time. I wish it were a little more plug and play so to speak.

BTW forgot to mention in my post that I use black heat shrink tube over that location to stop the wear ….works a treat
