I thought I'd make my first post as a new C400GT owner. I live in Munich, Germany, my kids live in Brighton, UK. The best way to run in my first 1000km was to visit them. Having fallen in love with the GT at first glance, my hope was that it would actually be the touring machine I wanted. It is. I used to do these routes on an R1100GS and do the whole thing in a day. Now my very advanced age dictates otherwise. However, the GT is a beast and the whole journey was almost relaxing. The running-in service was performed in Portslade by an excellent BMW-Motorrad dealer (who also sent me a video of the main service points - is that now a thing?) and I was able to open it up on the return journey, doing 130-150 kph most of the way home.
Not much to add to discussions so far - the TFT connectivity app was brilliant, my bluetooth helmet worked like a dream and all I used was a BMW soft bag on the passenger seat. I'm definitely looking at doing something to the windshield to reduce turbulence in one way or another.

Welcome to the forum.

I went with Wunderlich's Marathon windscreen. It's about the same height as the stocker, but is wider, has an optional vent, and a little curve at the top -- not as dramatic as the stock screen, but my wife says that it reduces buffeting for the pillion rider (we rode a stock C 400 X for a couple of weeks on Edelweiss tours). You can see pics (and links) early on, in my C 400 GT gallery: https://billanddot.com/C400GT/

I'm 5'9" (175cm), with about a 29" (74cm) inseam. If you're taller, @mzflorida, who's taller than me, has a nice report on several aftermarket windscreens in this thread that you may find useful:

I've found the speedometer to read a little high on the C 400 GT, which is certainly typical of bikes (and completely legal and understandable). I've had bikes way more off, and a few closer. I have a report in this thread:

(I have a lot of trip data, by the way, showing that the odometer is spot on, at least with fairly new tires.)

Thanks Bill, I'm about 5'11" so the Givi might be the thing. I thought about extras a bit more after posting and I've ordered the mirror extenders from Wunderlich, that will definitely enhance future trips.

I can also recommend Wunderlich’s sidestand enlarger foot. A little pricey (like all their stuff) but a very nice piece of engineering.
